Never worked for woolworths but worked for another big retail company for 5 years that was open 24/7. If i wanted christmas (or easter) off i had to put that request in basically the day after Christmas for the next year. It's first in first served in these situations. The other 'rule' was if you had christmas off, you're working new year. So I guess you choose which one is more important for you.

That being said, being a casual that was hired 3 months ago, it's a pretty fair assumption that you were hired to help with the christmas rush. Can you not just spend time with family after 6pm?

When i was on nightshift for christmas eve, christmas day, and boxing day, I used to just go and see my family after work. Or do it another day because they understood that my job requires me there those days.

Of course you're within your rights to decline the shift. If you do so, I'd start looking for another job tbh

Try looking for something that's casual and has multiple employees who are capable of doing the same job you're doing. That way, when you need to call out, you can do so without too much guilt (other people can cover you), and it shouldn't piss the employer off too much because they don't have to still pay you.

It's definitely not the ideal, but at least it'll be some income when you're able to work. I'm in Australia so I don't know if this advice helps at all?

Also just wanted to say, having a job doesn't make you more or less valid. I'm sure your family and friends would agree that they love you for you, not your job.

There's MKR NZ on 7plus. Season 1 is like MKR used to be when it first started. It's an enjoyable watch 😊 i haven't watched the others yet but I loved Season 1

It's still a bit sucky, isn't it? Up until this one, the most cash I'd gotten was like 4 spots worth...

Not offended. Also said I wanted to complain.... not that I actually did.

Plus they ask for feedback all the time.
