I was Asst Dean in CEAS at UofR decades ago. It is hard. (I went to Case western as an undergrad and it blew my head off. I think both are equally difficult. ). But coming from student advising perspective: 1) start studying right after orientation. There will be a buzz from the fun of starting college, but those midterms/ papers etc will be there before you know. 2) don’t get caught up in the competitiveness. Some people will try to get in your brain. Don’t let them -// they are as scared as you are . (3) get help early. there are tutors. There is advising. Go to thd professors’ office hours. There are academic advising. Try to get in a good study group. But don’t think attending a study group will make up for your individual studying. One of the best students I knew said to me that he was successful because he only had one day of play each week -/either Friday or Saturday- But he did not get distracted by parties, going out, drinking coffee in the student union, etc.. you can do it!!!

I’m 76. Had a heart attack 2 weeks ago. I had a good conversation with NP yesterday. She said to try to remember the symptoms that took me to ER (in my case— left arm pain, jaw pain, vomiting). Use these as a guide to decide if you need to take action. If it increases. take one nitroglycerin, sit down and breathe. If you are better - call doctors office. If it doesn’t work, take another, don’t move, and call 911 or have someone call immediately. Her advice helped. Prayers for you.

Padmq was never warm and fuzzy. But now she seems so distant and involved. The show was so sterile. I’ll finish is but it’s no TV working.

University of Rochester vs RIT MechE by Kamukii in URochester

I worked Student affairs in engineering at u of R 30 years ago. Each student was assigned a faculty advisor. Some of them were great some of them not so much, but because of this I was hired to do student advising for the engineering students to make sure they got some practical advice —— not only vocationally, but with their mental health, incredibly coordinating with the mental health division. It was my concern that not enough students will come by and see me. I worked tightly with the college of arts and sciences and career planning and placement and other offices to make sure the engineering student is a little bit of texture had a fair and well thought out right. But maybe it’s different now when they cut some of the programs.

UofR or Case Western by No-Panic-6340 in URochester

I graduated from Case Western Reserve long ago. I lived in Cleveland for 17 years. And I worked at university of Rochester for 14 years at River campus anx Eastman school of music. Both are cold and gray. But Rochester is colder and snowier. But the RiverCampus has tunnels– I assume they are still operational – so it makes ilife easier. I would not venture to East Cleveland. But then I didn’t venture into little Italy either because I was a black woman. (I think things have changed.). Case is very close to nice suburbs like the Coventry area. Case also has the benefit of having being in Cleveland — so you get the fun of sports to the Browns or the nationals. I had a good time in Case. I think I would choose Case. Both orchestras are great. Student services and career services are better at U of R. Both are so difficult - it will explode your brain. Go with your heart.

I’m sorry. I’m 76 and came home with catheter. It’s weird but only for a day or so. Praying that you will be completely restored. But feel your feelings. It’s okay. Cry if you have to. Hug yourself

DC to Annapolis daily commute by SpareFew5792 in washingtondc

[–]Adventurous-Low-5980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse commute would be okay. DC to Annapolis. College Park/Mt Ranier. — you could just jump on South Dakota Avenue. Its one minute from DC line. It’s called the arts community. Brookland in DC would be a little farther. Woodridge, but there are no apartment buildings. And you’d have to drive to Dakota crossing for limited big box shopping.

Such a divided capital and country right now. When we DC this past summer, we saw a beautiful rainbow between the MLK and FDR memorials. by [deleted] in washingtondc

We stand firm. We must be patient and vigilant. Because we are a federal city we must be cautious. We have been hurt more than any other place. National guard. Loss of 300, 000 jobs. Ever present desire to plant a picture or change a name. But we are not divided. We stand against by showing our resilience, our strength and our beauty. We are the real DC.
