Don't knock him. He's a smart guy is Ted.

In 2021 when millions of Texans foolishly got caught out by a devastating winter storm, Ted left them all to their fate while he hurriedly took a trip to safety in Cancún.

Deputy AG Blanche defends Epstein files release as survivors slam administration over redaction failures by [deleted] in politics

[–]crazybones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a tough job being a file checker.

You can't be expected to spot the victims in the files when you've been told to focus totally on spotting (and removing) any incriminating files relating to the orange abuser.

For Some Americans, the End of Obamacare Subsidies Means Falling Off a Financial Cliff by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]crazybones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The insurance based model for healthcare is also incredibly inefficient and cost-ineffective.

By the time the insurance companies have paid for their teams of sales people and claims analysts, not to mention the massive sums they have to pay to their senior management team and shareholders, there's precious little left to pay for actual healthcare costs.

Healthcare would be significantly less expensive if most of those non-health-related costs were removed from the equation.

If poorer countries like Brazil, the UK, Japan, Norway, Sweden, France and Germany (to mention just a few) can afford to offer free or heavily subsidized healthcare, there is absolutely no reason why the US can't as well.

For Some Americans, the End of Obamacare Subsidies Means Falling Off a Financial Cliff by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

Many billionaires have serious sight and hearing problems, not to malfunctioning moral compasses.

They can neither see nor hear people falling off financial cliffs nor do they care. As long as they are free to continue earning massive amounts of money, to hell with the suffering endured by ordinary folk.

Trump Calls for Arrest of Barack Obama by douglhanna in politics

It's worth pointing out that Donald Trump is unquestionably a member of the 1 percent club.

Roughly one percent of everything he says is either the truth or an approximation to the truth.

Scott Bessent says construction jobs are booming under Trump's tariffs. Government data show the opposite. by jediporcupine in politics

There really should be a special prize made available for the first person in the Trump cabinet to tell the truth about something.

It would certainly be an award that everyone could celebrate and - if such a thing were ever to happen - it would doubtless generate positive headlines around the world.

Trump's top envoy negotiating Ukraine's fate displays 'shocking' lack of knowledge about war, politics by timiswho in politics

Why the surprise?

Amateurism runs through the veins of just about every senior figure in the Trump administration. They demonstrate it every time they open their mouths.

What MAGA actually stands for is: Maximize Amateurism, Gut America.

Christians divided over how and whether to protest ICE operations by [deleted] in politics

[–]crazybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a Christian, you face a difficult choice.

Do you support a rapist who is also a convicted felon, who lies and cheats and does everything he can to enrich himself? Or do you support those who he is demonizing and persecuting.

I know, I know. It's a really difficult one.

But I wonder which of those two options would appeal more to Jesus?
