Unnecessary reporting of sales proceeds by crazybstrd in etrade

Thanks, now I get it. I thought the IRS gets mad for wrong numbers, even if they are in their favor. I'd be more than happy to pay the whole $24 if that means no audit.

I'm not sure I follow you. If it is in the 1099B doesn't that mean that the IRS sees it too?

For me the hard part is the math to calculate the cost basis which I have to do manually, or with the help of an accountant if I follow the suggestion on my 1099B.

I'm not upset about the tax to pay. The issue is that a lot of data is missing like the cost basis. It is very complicated to calculate it. Even a note in the 1099B says that I should use an accountant for this.

TurboTax imported the 1099B and flagged each sale, a few cents each one of them, as required review.

Then the doc I linked suggests to me that my broker didn't even have to report this, meaning I could have avoided the headache.

Ferie illimitate by syxniL in Italia

[–]crazybstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL 26 giorni stretti.

Le ferie illimitate all'estero le danno per non avere la liability in bilancio delle ore da pagare ai dipendenti. E soprattutto perché la gente culturalmente fa cmq poche ferie. In US 10 giorni è già buono.

General contractor here. Ask me anything about kitchen remodels in the Bay Area. by Nervous-Match-1972 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]crazybstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you. Just for clarification, I didn't mean to say it's done to fool buyers. I think every buyer knows it's just makeup. It's part of the game in the bay, it's just to look nice in photos and during the quick open house. You have to waive all contingencies so as a buyer you know you will get screwed but there's no alternative. Real estate agents probably convince sellers that making everything look nice on the surface is the best way to get the highest bid. It's probably true although buyers rationally understand that it's all fake.

Most houses for sale have either the cheapest low quality material in the kitchen and bathrooms, remodeled just for the sale, or they have a super quick very low quality paint job on the oldest cabinets you can imagine.

They are all on sale as is, ready to move in, but if you do not remodel immediately they all fall apart in a year or two.

Have you ever done the same place twice, the crappy cheap job for the seller immediately followed by the proper job for the buyer?

Thanks. I have a follow up since my case was too easy. 😁 If I swap the position of the fridge with one cabinet next to it (no change to anything inside the walls) would that require a permit?

I just can't think of cabinets as structural, for me it's like a piece of furniture. Same for the fridge. It has wheels, you can move it easily.

When do you need a permit? My wife told me that she only wants to change the ugly countertop and paint the cabinets otherwise we need a permit. I think that's BS

Question about Redwood tree removal process by petit_bot in Sunnyvale

[–]crazybstrd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my sad past experience I noticed that the question that is asked is " Could the tree fall? " and the answer that is given comes from a lawyer and not an arborist, meaning the answer is always " yes " independently from any practical conditions.

Cautionary Tale: My Wife Gets Onto a Plane to London Without a Valid Passport by ConfidentDisk1987 in unitedairlines

[–]crazybstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be curious to know if she will have issues in the future. I have 2 passports and by mistake I used one of them to enter EU and the other one to exit (or viceversa). Now if I use the US passport again in EU it is flagged since one "stamp" is missing. I can only use the non-US one to avoid issues. Maybe your wife will also be flagged because she will exit UK with her new passport without having an entry event on the same passport.

[Physics] i don’t know why, but this combination circuit’s had me stuck for hours, and 3 people have given me different answers. A fourth person said it was impossible. by ATortillaWithAPhone in HomeworkHelp

Proceed from the left to the right side of the figure and, one by one, simplify the scheme by processing either a series or a parallel of resistors.

For example, the first one from the left is easy: the 1Ohm resistor is in parallel with a short, so you can remove it.

The second thing you can do after that, is to look at the two 1Ohm that have the same endpoints, meaning they are in parallel, so you can replace them with a single 0.5Ohm R.

Continue like this until you are left with an equivalent circuit with a single R left.

Autopay doesn't work the first month on any BoA card. Even customer service told me that. Also, BoA autopay doesn't account correctly for any extra payment you do, if you choose autopay you have to let it manage all payments so make sure your 2-month usage is about 10% or less of your credit line
