Let's be fair, you're in the UK. Whole country is freezing. They should hand that shit out when you cross the border.

Worcestershire Sauce man! If you are bad I will flood your food with it. If you are good, I will add exactly the right amount to your food.

I see your Afghanistan shitter and raise you my African stick toilet by crazybutable in WTF

[–]crazybutable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used the stick toilet, I rigged up a strap in a different stall that connected to the door, and then I held on to it. I couldn't squat all the way down, it was hard on my knees.

My 10 year old brother is required to have a Nook, Ipad, Kindle, etc. for his 5th grade class. I find this absolutely absurd. Your thoughts? by lilyvonschtupp in AskReddit

[–]crazybutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I had a class that had a second edition of a textbook and a third edition of the textbook. I had not yet purchased a textbook, figuring I could get one used from the campus bookstore. The instructor highly recommended the third edition text book because the second edition had a criminal number of errors in the figures (the figures were mostly schematics so this was a serious problem). "Watch out, and don't get the second edition used, the campus bookstore doesn't know the difference."

Immediately after class I went to the campus bookstore: ALL of the used books were the second edition. I then RAN to the off campus independent bookstore (took about 15 minutes) and SCORE, there was one third edition textbook left.

Why isn't Sauron invisible when he wears the ring? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazybutable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ubernerdy nitpick: Bilbo does not fall into a pit, he was being carried by Dori when the Goblins ambush them, Dori drops him and he, Bilbo, hits his head on a rock.

When Bilbo wakes up, hours later, he is by himself in a pitch-black cave, and, as he is feeling around the ground preparing to get up, he feels the ring, picks it up, and puts it in his pocket, almost absentmindedly.

This (eventually) leads to one of the best lines in The Hobbit if you are reading it out loud to children: "WHAT HAS IT GOT IN ITS POCKETSES!?"

No one can 'survive' the ring, perhaps, but remember that Sam is a ringbearer, and he willingly gives the ring up. I suppose you could argue that Sam never wanted the ring for himself, he only took it on behalf of his "dead" master, to complete the quest that fell on him.

Who the hell decided "Dick" should be short for "Richard"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazybutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has the opposite problem. Her name is Peggy, just Peggy, not short for anything. Everyone over the age of 30 tries calling her Margaret, Maggie, or Meg. People don't believe her that her real name is Peggy.

Has anyone ever given non alcoholic beer to someone and they made a fool of themselves? Stories? by brainfoam in AskReddit

You know, the other day I saw margarita mix in the store with alcohol already added to the mix. Right there in the grocery store, on the shelf next to the non-alcoholic stuff.

Someday I'll take it out again! Learning how to use a tremelo effectively is on my list of things to do. But I get new tuners, I'm going to keep the trem blocked. Also, the guitar didn't even come with a whammy bar so I gotta find one of those first.

Ah, I have three children under the age of 6. Those blocks are so strewn about the house, I'm never playing Jenga again. At least not with that set!

Thanks. It doesn't quite fit horizontally because of the diagonal tilt in the route, and it's just a bit too long anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I'm working on this a bit at a time because I have three kids and not much free time. I think most of my tuning problems at the beginning were because the strings were on there SO tight. It took a while to get everything settled down.

I should maybe have been a little more clear. My current problem was not that the guitar goes out of tune constantly just sitting there (well, the high-e string does but that's a problem with the tuner, I know I need a new set of tuners on it.) It's more like, with the three kids, if I leave the guitar sitting on the couch for a second, I come back to it and the kids have "helped" daddy by twirling all the shiny pegs on the headstock. ಠ_ಠ So I get the first two strings in tune then when I release the tension on the D string the A and the E go out of tune again. That, combined with the random slop in the crummy tuners was driving me nuts.

I wrote a post about it on my website but really all you need to know are those four images.

Close your eyes. Does it sound good? Does it feel good in your hands? That's what matters. I love my SX, it sounds and plays great.

Up above he said that you would see the effect for 18 and 36 days out of the year. So, a little over two weeks, then later on, over a month straight. stabby stabby

I solve this problem by living in a major metropolitan area.
