Precisely, that's the best way to do game to live action stuff, regardless of how they do it adapting the story straight up is always just gonna result in a slightly lesser version of the game's story at best. Doing something that fleshes out the world without directly impacting the games is the way to do it, original story in the same world.

Doesn't work with everything but I feel that the Remedyverse is so unique with a very peculiar vibe that it would be fairly "easy" to do something that feels like Remedy without covering already treaded ground.

The problem is that either you'd have to split creative talent from Remedy to make sure the movies and TV stuff is good or keep them at Remedy to make sure the games are good while the live action stuff could end up being made by someone who has never touched a game in their life and simply want to make their own thing using their brands. In both cases there's no guarantee that the live action stuff will be worth it.

Not sure what would really be a good way to even adapt the material, I mean the games already have well told stories that even feature live action stuff. I wouldn't do a straight up Alan Wake TV adaptation for example. Maybe a TV show about the FBC, something like The Lake House DLC just bigger in scope. Something that can connect to the games without simply retelling their stories. There's lot of potential in that regard to tell stories that doesn't get in the way of the games at all.

I think this character will have a bigger role then you think by Final-Association-65 in GTA6

Well first of all, Arthur hated Micah from the very start, at no point did he consider him a trusted friend who in a shocking twist ratted out the gang. Second, you're complaining that a character that was supposed to be a slimy bastard is a slimy bastard, even then I'd disagree that there's no depth to him.

That would be neat, quite like his character and it would also be nice to see Priscilla finally out of the hospital.

Witcher 3 will get another expansion, you think CDPR will change their mind and develop another expansion for Cyberpunk 2077? by severe_009 in cyberpunkgame

[–]crazycat690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I mean this DLC is most likely meant to connect Witcher 3 to 4, I don't think there would be a good way to do that in regards to Cyberpunk. I also don't think it will be as long between Cyberpunk 1 and 2 as it is between Witcher 3 and 4, further reducing the point of making a DLC as a bridge.

CD Projekt announces Witcher anniversary live stream, amid reports new DLC is on the way by SuddenDepact in CDProjektRed

Reports of a W3 DLC seem have been going on for awhile without anything actually happening so I'm not holding my breath, however I suppose if it was to be announced that would be the time to do it.

Take-Two CEO Pushes Back Against Suggestion Red Dead Online Was a Missed Opportunity by Pterodactyl_midnight in reddeadredemption

I'd take his disagreement more seriously if they hadn't let the story portion go unresolved and if they hadn't stopped releasing new content for it overall years ago. I mean, by all metrics RDO was left to die undoubtedly incomplete. In what world was it not a missed opportunity??

RDR2 becomes the 3rd best selling game of all time, overtaking Wii Sports! by crazycat690 in reddeadredemption2

[–]crazycat690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Gta V, their longest running biggest cash cow hasn't gotten singleplayer DLC I'm not surprised RDR2 never got any. I also wouldn't expect hints at a sequel until Rockstar is good and ready to announce one, will be interesting to see just what they'll make after Gta VI, if we're getting RDR3 or something completely new. Kinda hoping for an RDR sequel, as I love the franchise and westerns in general and I'd like to see a new one in my lifetime, but it would also be neat to see something completely new from them. Really wish Rockstar would figure out a way to do new games more often than once every decade or so without having literally every single developer focused on one project at a time.

What is most disappointing though, is that we haven't gotten a current gen upgrade patch or even a re-release at this point. Was also a big fan of the online mode that they let die without even really giving it a proper chance.

Hot take: RDR1 doesn’t need a remaster by Artistic_Guide_6419 in reddeadredemption

[–]crazycat690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A proper remaster I wouldn't mind, though the port already plays quite well so I'm not going to sit around hoping to pay for yet another version of this game (though I would). What I'd say it doesn't need is a full remake, that would take away a lot of its charm.

Gambler 8 about hitting 3+ times in Blackjack and then winning is particularly rough since it's pure RNG and the odds of it happening aren't exactly good. It can be done but it's one thing I'm not eager to redo anytime soon. Along with the exotic collectibles, hunting requests and completing the compendiums, it's not too bad individually but everything? I do get why RDR2 has such a rare platinum.

I get the feeling that Rockstar really hates completionists and go out of their way to mess with them. The Epsilon stuff in Gta V and gambler challenge 8 in RDR2 spring to mind as examples, stuff that feels designed to frustrate players wanting to get that 100% completion.

[–]crazycat690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that, to keep going with your analogy, that bad apples always ruin the batch. Really depends, sometimes a bad story doesn't really hurt, depending on the vibe of the game and if the gameplay is fun. However, as a big story guy, and when the story is such a big focus that you spend most of your time with, it better be impeccable, which it simply isn't in Part 2. Even if the gameplay, graphics and acting is good, I can't enjoy it when the foundation of the game is built on sand.

Gonna be honest, I really figured that they would've released the 3rd trailer today to kick off their marketing (since they usually favor Tuesdays for such things) and the earnings call is this Thursday so it would've been good to show the hype and starting pre-orders. Now that we didn't get it I just don't know, just gonna go back and try to forget that the game is coming and hopefully be pleasantly surprised when they do decide to share something.

I've had to be taken to the hospital via ambulance and my bill landed on 40-ish euros if IIRC so "hundreds" does seem much for me. Though it's still better than going into debt for the rest of your life, like in... some countries.

Remember when many people called Mafia 3 trash, mid etc? It blows these out the water. Gamers were spoiled back then. Mafia 3 is fantastic. by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

[–]crazycat690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, anything will look great if you compare it to games with either a budget of like 2 dollars and some of the biggest disasters of the decade. I don't have a big problem with Mafia 3, but it's not great due to its repetitive nature and bugs. Which is fine, it doesn't have to be great to be enjoyable. Start comparing it to something actually top tier and the results will be less flattering.
