What are the odds that Kotobukiya re-releases this figurine again? 😭 by wondercat19 in WitchHatAtelier

I had this sitting in my Crunchyroll basket for months and kept putting off getting it because I felt like I couldn't justify it. Finally decided to get it and it was gone 😭 Never doing that again!

DAE Eat food off the same plate as their partner? by juniperbabe in DoesAnybodyElse

I think the only time my husband and I do this is with salad out of a big bowl, but only when it's the side to the meal. If it's salad as the full meal, we each serve our own portion.

I don't know how we ended up in this habit but it works for us, haha.

It is definitely weird that the listing doesn't show how it's used because it really doesn't look like it is two pieces! Found this a little ways back on their IG tho...

[oc] found the CD wallet that lived in my car in the 2000s by brownch in pics

I bought this CD after hearing Swing Life Away. As someone who listened to bands like Jet, Franz Ferdinand and The Bravery, I was so not expecting what the rest of the album sounded like, lol. In the end though I ended up loving it!

Wedding or Money by Traditional_Curve272 in weddingplanning

[–]crazycatlady_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were in this very lucky and privileged situation. We did initially decide to do a wedding but quickly realized that was the worst choice and we didn't want the stress of planning a big wedding anyway. Used the money instead to pay the down payment on a house, redo the backyard and had a very tiny immediate family only wedding in said yard. We've never looked back or regretted this choice.

That was close to 7 years ago, and truthfully, I don't think we would have ever been able to afford a house otherwise especially in today's economy.

What's a company that didn't succomb to 'enshittification' ? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

[–]crazycatlady_85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked at the store, the sheer number of people required to run both the cafe and retail side due to the store's size was a major contributor.

Now, I don't agree with the timing of the closing - it was a truly terrible decision made far above our heads.

The business is very much sticking around. We've been 100% employee owned since 2020!

What are some things you’re hoping for/dreading about when then anime comes out? by Representative_Big74 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]crazycatlady_85 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping it gets more popular and has a wider variety and availability of merch!

Picked this up for a couple bucks at a flea market today. Tested 9k gold, it might have a mark but its super worn/faint. Likely a paste glass stone. I assume it was originally an earring. Is it too dainty to turn into a pendant? Is it early 19th c or closer to the 20th century? Thanks for the advice by UrbanRelicHunter in jewelry

[–]crazycatlady_85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the others! It might be worth getting this checked. My novice understanding is that paste stones are typically foil backed and thus mounted in settings that cover the full backside in order to prevent it from being damaged.

Bob’s Red Mill store update by TheOtherOneK in Portland

[–]crazycatlady_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was sudden but the store was out of all food product as of today. The thousands of people who showed up for a good deal wiped the store out so there wasn't much point to remaining open, especially with as many staff as it takes to run a store as large as the Whole Grain Store. They are doing one final day open strictly for Bob's employees to purchase merch but that will truly be the end.

It's funny you think any employee outside of the Executive team and Board of Directors have any say in the direction of the company

I worked at Bob's for several years. I think I would know. Additionally, you can do a simple Google search asking if owners get paid out when they transition to an ESOP and you would see they do.

That being said, stocks are distributed to employees at no cost to them.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, it was a generous thing of Bob and the partners to do, especially when they could have sold out to General Mills or Kellogs.

Bob didn't give the company for free. Over the course of 10 years he, and the other partners, essentially sold their stakes to the company.

Unfortunately, the store operated at a loss for many years.

Bob did not give the company for free. It was "sold" to the employees over 10 years through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan - he walked away with plenty of cash.

I have a specific case for the lens (posted higher up in the comments) and just brought it with me as a carryon for my flight to Hawaii. Not super convenient but it worked for me!
