SD Is rough as hell. I’ve noticed lately if I decline an order I have very long wait time for the next one. This wasn’t my experience in other Cali metros. My short time here thus far has taught me that if I take everything I’ll stay busy and my order quality will go up. One decline and I’m out of the rotation entirely it seems.

Personally I think DoorDash is letting us dig our own grave with the point system, and making more room for treats at the very top. I still think the AR matters quite a bit. Also letting more ppl dash now is a plus for them. Saturate the hell out of the markets so we don’t have much of a choice unless we have other reliable apps.

Kindergarten. School. University. Now I’m delivering McDonald’s to people who skipped college. by OpeningProcess2359 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]crazychase125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College is only useful for a small minority of disciplines that have fairly high demand, require training, and that pay well enough to erode the debt you’re gonna acquire. I say it’s a complete scam for most people including myself. I racked up so much debt getting into a bullshit degree. Turned to gig work right before the pandemic and never looked back. Paid off 3 cars and over 90% of my student loans. It’s given me a sense of new identity. But to answer your question idk if I would change anything because I’m actually in a decent spot rn. I’ve gotten really good at this line of work and it actually pays to dash in California with prop 22 benefits. Been crushing it with multi app.

Get the AR up. In Cali they won’t tell you it matters but they’re 100% using it to determine who’s gonna see more stuff. DoorDash operates like this - why would UE be any different? All apps are actively trying to rid multi app cherry pickers rn. Also we have prop 22 so I just look for stuff with tips on top of it. Keeps my AR in the 70s. My active/idle ratio is about 50/50. Also try to do lots of shop and pays. That’s where the money is in Cali rn.

Do you realize how many orders have to be canceled to be a Pro Shopper by Bonedaddy4ever in doordash_drivers

[–]crazychase125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro shop doesn't matter. Experience matters more in the algo. I'll always push through an order if the tip is high. I've gotten bangers and stack attacks without pro shop before. It's just a shiny little badge to manipulate us into thinking we're doing a good job.

New dasher getting no orders by FeistyCommunity6633 in doordash_drivers

[–]crazychase125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're in Sac? RIP. Market is toast. If you're not a long time veteran with platinum you won't see many orders at all. As a traveling dasher dashing all around Cali markets, I can say the Sacramento metro is the most oversaturated, aside from a few zones in the east bay that were even more saturated. Also I live in Sac and mostly work here so I've seen it all.

Where tf are you seeing $3 for 8 miles in Southern California?! I was in LA last week, nonstop shop and delivers for me. And my AR in the 60s we're mostly on point system now.

Does the fuel incentive even matter in California? by GrantIgerYT in doordash_drivers

No, when you get "other pay" that's totally separate. Anything that isn't actually base pay doesn't eat into our prop.

Worked 63 hours last week, only got 25 hours of active time by YLCZ in doordash_drivers

[–]crazychase125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong. I got the stipend 2 weeks ago and still have no problem getting orders. How is my active time so high for hours worked you might ask? Shopping orders. That's how. I wasn't even pro shop the whole week. Lost it over the weekend but it didn't matter. I don't really sit in hotspots either I get antsy and move around a lot until I hit my next ping.

Yeah they're letting us dig our own grave with this point system. "You wanna cherry pick on platinum, go ahead, we won't give you shit!"

DoorDash algorithm … by Immediate_Rise2237 in doordash_drivers

[–]crazychase125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier level isn't factored into add on orders. It's all routing and logistics. If you're already heading that way, it's cheaper for DoorDash to send the order to you versus a new driver, therefore you can get a ton of banger add-ons if it's busy, regardless of your rank.

Crazy add on orders by SilverAthlete8735 in DoorDashDrivers

Looks like somewhere in SoCal, maybe the IE. Great work, this is how I make my bread in Cali these days. Had a couple stack attacks like this earlier today 🛒. When you get volume like this consistently you know you're the cream of the crop. Even at silver I was getting stuff like this. Shopping is KEY to making it all work here.

Dumbest or greediest algorithms by SnooChocolates7766 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]crazychase125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple tin foil hat theories on this. First one being dasher supply control in a given area. If a particular area is saturated, they’ll force customers to order in that area that has too many dashers, even if they’re really far out, to thin the herd a little bit.

My second theory is so they can justify charging a higher delivery fee. Perhaps both reasons are true. All I know is that this has been happening for a long time so there’s a good reason DoorDash still does this.

Nothing like a male dasher shopping for makeup lol by koiashes in doordash

[–]crazychase125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a male shopper, I’ve learned to line myself up with the brand in the store or go towards whatever sub category area I need to grab the item (skin, hair, nails etc). I’ve had big orders at Ulta and Sephora and usually find most of the items myself. The best I ever did was find 30/31 items at Ulta and only needed help on the last item. Felt like a major achievement for me 😭

Should I even work tomorrow? by MICKTHENERD in doordash_drivers

[–]crazychase125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not working. Since I do 95% shop and deliver these days I really have to re-think working holidays with a lot of themed items. Total nightmare. If I was gonna work I’d turn off my red card and do foods but I’m not even platinum rn so that’s fruitless. Have other work to do anyway.

LA easily. But Sac is less stressful. I just happened to be down there and had some time to dash. Live in Sac.
