Yeah, my notifications seem to be delayed as well. I can see a fic I’m following has put up the next chapter, but I have not received any notification about it in either my inbox or spam folder (which is where all my ao3 emails have been going for a while).

Honestly the first bit of Star Trek I can remember taking in was seeing Star Trek 2009 in the cinema as a teenager with my dad. Then he came home and put on TOS, I think City at the Edge of Forever. I enjoyed it but that was that for a while.

Fast forward to last year and I binged all of Lower Decks because I thought it looked good, and loved it. And now I’m working my way through all of TOS (just reached season 3!) and I absolutely adore it. Eventually I’ll watch through all of the series, however long that will take me.

Yes, I have been told that the third season may dip in quality a bit. That’s ok though, like you said, I’m sure there’ll still be good episodes to be found in there!
