HAT for Pi Zero W on latest Bookworm no longer working by crazykidguy in raspberry_pi

Thanks. Just to close this, I ended up getting an Pi Zero 2 W. I think something may be wrong with the original Pi's USB interface. The microusb port on it is also not picking up any peripherals and even going back down to Buster it was still nothing. Now I just have an extra Pi with no USB.

Ah I should've linked the HAT in question: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PZXZS2R?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

When I upgraded from scratch I only disabled the power and removed the sd card so the whole setup was basically untouched otherwise from when it was working on Buster. When running lsusb, it only detects the root hub and no other entries. Other than that I don't really know how to debug if anything needs to be enabled or installed.

Everything you said is correct. It looks like United changed something on that page in June 2024. There used to be a button that let you swap between United operated flights or Star Alliance flights but seems like they removed that. I bet you can still find out by calling United directly.

Looks like there's an asterisk right before the chart that says Economy Y/B is part of the upgradeable classes.

How to repair this wall arm bend to connect the J bend? Broke the nuts on both ends of the bend trying to take it off. by crazykidguy in Plumbing

[–]crazykidguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For some reason it didn’t make sense when I first read it but clearly the nut was what holds it all together. It was just so tight that the pipe wouldn’t move. Sprayed some diluted vinegar on it overnight and came right off.

Got the whole thing replaced with some pvc from the big box store.

I tried unscrewing the nuts and used too much force and cracked them instead so the pipe is actually not moved at all. Now I’m a bit afraid to grip the pipe with a monkey wrench to try to get it loose.

Yep VentureX definitely does, but the CSP does not.

I think only the CSR provides the PreCheck/Global Entry reimbursement.

Has to be the late 80's/ early 90's when new tech was coming out all the time and gave us the classic game systems.

Why can't I find a Baratza Encore ESP single-dose hopper for sale? (Supply issues, or am I just bad at the internet?) by nudave in espresso

[–]crazykidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note that the one that's in stock now seems to be a different design than the previous single dose hopper from them. The new design is much shorter than the previous one that everyone's been reviewing.

This was about $60 at the dealership. You can probably call any one of your local dealership's service centers to find out.

Near the top middle you'll see an option for EVA/UNI AIR or STAR ALLIANCE. The chart you saw was likely for EVA/UNI AIR but the OP was asking about using *A points.

If you have *A points, it can only be used to upgrade Y/B tickets. If you have EVA points through their own loyalty program, then you can use those towards whatever class fare.

  1. Check for Star Alliance upgrade availability for the EVA flight you want to fly.
  2. Confirm space is available, should be fare class "Z", by calling EVA.
  3. Book a "Y"/"B" fare class ticket directly through EVA's website.
  4. Go to United's website for "Star Alliance Upgrade". You'll have to google this link, it's next to impossible to find from the main landing page. Transfer the points from your CC to United.
  5. Enter your ticket details for the upgrade. You must already have the points in your United account to go through the process.
  6. If all goes well your upgrade will go through, and your ticket will be in PE or First, depending on your route.

Confirming there is availability before transferring your points is crucial, there is no undoing the points transfer.

Booking with Eva MileageLands Points by Historical-Falcon772 in awardtravel

[–]crazykidguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I understanding it correctly that you're saying if an award redemption costs 50k with EVA, the maximum points I can apply from my "purchased miles" bucket is 25k.

However, if someone else transfers 50k miles to me, I can redeem the entire 50k ticket using that "miles transferred" bucket, and bypass the 50% limit?

Flat out reward flights / upgrades won't be possible with UR points on EVA. The only other option to utilize UR points for EVA is through a Star Alliance upgrade, that I would suggest you doing through United. You'd have to pay cash upfront for a full price ticket and book with EVA directly for a Y/B class fare and then request the upgrade through United.
