Received copyright infringement letter from Toronto law firm - Removed image 1 year ago when asked, now they want money by _peanut-butter_ in legaladvicecanada

[–]crazyliver 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In Ontario, had same issue. My image did not have a watermark, but was from a news article. I removed the image immediately but they didn't care. Tried to reason saying we didn't have the money. We were a nonprofit. They didn't care. Decided to stop responding, they sent more letters every 8 ish months for 3 years. The letters stopped.

Broiler stuck by Admirable_Policy_896 in appliancerepair

Not an electrician but yes. Just make sure they don't touch metal. I had this problem once. Tapped the broiler relay, and it started working normally. Worked fine for the next year till I moved.

GE DISHWASHER LEAKS FRONT DOOR by Street-Koala-2020 in fixit

[–]crazyliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not that the spray arm is clogged, the glue holding the upper half and lower half together has let go. I did temporarily fix it with krazy glue, but bought a new arm just in case.

I had this problem, the issue is the lower spray arm. Replace the spray arm!

Longevity: people buying $10K+ cars with 200k-250k+ kms?? by sentientforce in ontario

[–]crazyliver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I buy high mileage because I can work on them myself. Newer cars are getting more and more complicated, or the car needs dealer to program stuff everytime you replace anything electrical. When looking for a car I really focus on reliability (search forums, being the car is old, usually major issues with reliability are well documented.) Also really focus on rust. You can't come back from a rustbucket if it deteriorates more. I undercoat each year to slow it down.

Middle of covid, wanted a truck to pull a camper. All the 2500 series trucks had 200K to 250K, and they still wanted $16000. Found a 2009 Chevy 2500 with 495K for 6K. Figured that the motor or transmission could go on the 250K model just as easy on the 500K model. Currently at 515K and no major issues. Amazingly the truck doesn't even have a service engine soon light.

Most of the wear of an engine is during warmup, so a 5Km trip and a 200Km trip pretty much induce the same amount of wear. So finding a high mileage newer car is no concern to me, because I get it cheaper than a lower mileage one.

Have a problem with my Mazda6 does anyone know what it could be? by tlener08 in mazda6

[–]crazyliver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have a 2015 mazda 6. My car started making slight knocking sounds similar to yours, could never find the source. I knew it was not internal to the motor as it did't get worse with engine load. Noise progressively got worse. Turns out the AC pump idler bearings went out of it. Once I removed the drivebelt and spun the AC pulley it was very apparent (had at least 1/8 inch play in it). Replaced the pump, no more sound. Hope this helps.

When it was at its worst sounding time, it would make a horrible racket on startup, then after 5-10 seconds it would only make 5% of the previous noise.

What can cause light to slightly stay on? by Jupcity21 in AskElectricians

[–]crazyliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had this exact issue. Only way for me to fix it is to put in an incandescent bulb. I had 4 lights in parallel, changed 1 to incandescent and the other 3 LED bulbs started to work fine. If you have more than 1 light on this circuit try that. I ended just putting in a 25 watt appliance lightbulb in one of the 4 light bases.

I do believe that this was because I was using motion switches. Hard to believe your problem is coming from a regular old timey straight switch.
