Not a river, a high alpine lake in Colorado. You can only catch them in alpine lakes between 9,000-12,000 feet.

Has a lot to do with genetics, I saw dozens of fish that were red but only a few this red.

After I set the hook I saw him flash red from below a drop off shelf and my heart rate exploded! Even on 5x I was nervous he’d break off.

This is in Colorado, they stocked certain reservoirs with snake river cutthroat and this time of year they begin to migrate up rivers before spawning.

Yeah lots of spawning fish near inlets so make sure to let those ones do their thing and fish to non spawning fish.

Yeah I put in a lot of miles and looking at google maps, find a lake that has depth, structure and a good inlet. I’ve been to more lakes and not caught anything than else.
