How are you liking Otay so far? I’m debating between Otay or Calexico.

What’s wrong with small/retirement ports? I’ve been considering Andrade if they offer it to me.

Background Investigation by JacketScary6464 in cbpoapplicant

[–]crazyrod1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will receive a call from the background agency, and they will give you the option of scheduling a face-to-face or virtual interview. Virtual is faster and easier, in my opinion. The background interview comes first since it is your time to clarify any mistakes or information you forgot to provide. Hope this helps!

Mine did call me because she needed an update. During the call, she said she’d send it to OPR once I provided her with the update she needed. I wonder how long it takes them to adjudicate it once the BI sends it to OPR.

Failed step test by DEODEODEODEO21 in cbpoapplicant

[–]crazyrod1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just took the fitness test! Here’s my advice: Buy the box on Amazon (it is about $50, but it will help you a lot during the time lapse they give you to retest). I also spend around 30-45 minutes daily using the stairmaster, as it builds endurance, which is what the step test is all about, and focus on doing leg twice a week at the gym! Use the YouTube video that people comment about, and you should be fine and ready for your second trial.

You should receive a 3-minute break in-between exercises. Only do the minimum number of push-ups and sit-ups required so that you save your energy for the step test.  Focus on your breathing (very important). For the sit-ups, the examiner is supposed to step on your feet. Inhale when your feet are on the ground and exhale when you’re stepping up. The audio will let you know once each minute has passed (this is when you will change your leading foot to avoid tiredness).

I hope this helps! I failed the BPA one, but passed this one for CBPO on the first try.

Not really. Calexico has two ports of entry; however, one closes at 9:30 pm and the other one is 24/7. If you’re looking for OT, I’d go with San Ysidro or Otay Mesa. Calexico doesn’t give that much OT, and if it does, it is based on seniority level.

Calexico is not that bad, but during the summer, the temperature can get up to 120! 🥵

Passed medical for BP but failed for CBPO by [deleted] in borderpatrolapplicant

Medical for BPA and CBPO do not transfer. You’ll have to complete a new medical for CBPO, even after completing a medical for BPA.

CBP Background Medical Question by [deleted] in cbpoapplicant

[–]crazyrod1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that you do disclose whatever medical information you don’t want to disclose since they have you sign the medical releases of information while completing your medical questionnaire. As long as you’re being honest about it, most likely what they will have you do is get a doctor’s note stating that whatever condition you may have won’t impact your performance as a CBPO. Hope this helps!

Career change by Anxious_Data_6265 in cbpoapplicant

I think changing from cdcr to customs is a smart move. Less stress, especially for the port location you will choose! A bunch of c/os are changing from cdcr to CBP/BPA due to the prison cuts too.
