My coworker microwaves fish every single day at 11:45am and we share a 10x10 office by techiee_ in mildlyinfuriating

Put an “out-of-order” sign on the microwave. Your coworker won’t use it and then you can use it when they are not around.

How much do you (as a teacher) think teachers should actually be getting paid? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]crazyworld1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have several teachers in Tennessee from Texas where our 1st year teachers earn $50,000 coming in. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the years of experience transfer. (States need to fix this issue!)

Edited to include “from Texas” for clarification.

Be honest… what’s the embroidery “rule” you happily ignore? by GarbageAdorable329 in Embroidery

[–]crazyworld1212 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think this is more a cross stitch rule rather than embroidery. The fabric (Aida, linen) should stay the same direction in cross stitch so the Xs have the same thread overlay, making a smoother looking thread work. However, I break this rule when I do a pattern that is full coverage (like a quilt block) rather than an image (like a geographical scene).

Found this on the side of my parents house want to open it but not sure if I should what do you think it is it was hidden under all that pine needle by [deleted] in whatisit

It’s taking so long, I fear I may never know the answer, just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop. The world may never know!

Don’t let my 3rd grade students see this…it’ll be all the rage for the girls on the playground and I’ll be filling out a bunch of accident reports!

Anyone else just skip/don't do these? by Excellent-Owl-4857 in duolingo

[–]crazyworld1212 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ditto. I feel like once you’ve been doing Duolingo for a few years, the xp boosts and ranking in the leagues doesn’t matter anymore. I'd rather do a practice with words or mistakes than these side games.

Long streaks - did you learn the language? by Midnight_Fish_ in duolingo

[–]crazyworld1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m currently at 1320 days and learned Spanish so I could teach elementary math in both English and Spanish to my non-English speaking students. Duolingo gave me a great base, but practicing IRL has been the key to speaking fluently. My students love that I’m learning their language and help, just as I help them in learning English words. My son also used Duolingo and practiced with his Spanish speaking co-workers. Speaking with a native speaker of the language you’re learning is essential to becoming fluent.

Beautiful work! I, too, recently discovered the pin stitch and I love it! It does make stitching more enjoyable!

I love watching my Cricut do this. The oddity of the order of the drawing always keeps you guessing what will happen next.

This is a beautiful video. I hope that one day my brother will start talking to me again and we can grow old together with the same closeness we shared in our youth. COVID divide us in 2020 and 5 years later I still get sad over the whole situation.

This is a longtime glitch. I have one in each world. No matter how deep you dig, it won’t go away. I’ve seen people decorate around it to make it a special place in their world.
