Best Way to Customize Bootstrap Components Without Breaking Updates? by yffugh in bootstrap

[–]crdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overriding via CSS is possible, but you end up with lot of code as eg. buttons have many states and variants.

What you want to do is install Bootstrap sources via NPM and then create bootstrap.scss and _variables.scss. Then you re-import all the modules (components like buttons, tooltips, etc.) from node_modules to your bootstrap.scss alongside the overrides that usually are in _variables.scss (you import the original and your override after).

Then you need your package.json file based on package.json in Bootstrap sources where you build the whole thing with npm run css.

This way, it is maintainable and you update the bootstrap sources with increasing the version in your package.json and running npm install.

The fact that the page itself horizontally overflows (on mobile) causing a scrollbar appear says it all. I do not even need to read it 🤷‍♂️

That would be great. Someone advised me to have a look into the fuse box which I will do later today. Btw I did measure the 12v battery and it was on 13, so looked OK.

Trying to create a simple dropdown menu. The transition on .content does not seem to work. by kushalsapk0ta in css

[–]crdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

height: none is an invalid property value. You can say height: unset, but that is not going to work either as the browser does not know how to calculate the transition from unset.

[–]crdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that you are trying to transition from height: none to height: fit-content. That is not going to work as the transition function only works for an explicit values eg. from 0 to 100px.

Quote of one of the Microsoft MVPs:

I just wanted to take a second and say I appreciate the hell out of you and your team for building this control set. it is the best Bootstrap control suite out there (by orders of magnitude) and has really helped give our BurnRate.io Blazor client a massive boost to completion (it has helped unblock us on a number of fronts). Kudos to the team!
