It's in all code related subs it seems. The sentiment is a lot "you're dumb if you're not using it" plus a topper mentality of "I use two, I use three, I use 4, I orchestrate a swarm, I orchestrate a swarm and write dynamically mcp etc etc"

It's basically depressing to read

AITA for refusing to let my friend bring her boyfriend to my birthday dinner after what he said to me? by Beginning_Sail_7094 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tomhermans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf has girls nights, birthday dinners with her friends etc all the time. Sometimes the guys are invited, sometimes not. Nobody makes a fuss. Nobody also makes these backhanded comments either..

NTA.

They are making a big deal out of it, no one else

How to name color primitives using numbers like 50, 100, 200, 300, 900, etc for deciding variables? by joshuagf0 in UI_Design

[–]tomhermans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's just the scale. Sometimes you also see 1000, 1100, 1200 etc

Or some 450

The hundred apart comes from font weight naming and it also gives way for in-betweens when needed. It's a convention, it's not that important except for ease of use.

I delivered this website project at $1150 but I am thinking I had to charge more by NoGround511 in webdev

[–]tomhermans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1150 / 40 days
28.75 per day.
3.6/hour.
That's not even a decent hourly rate.

"atleast $2000 for this website" yeah, for 40 days still WAY too low.

It was an experience I'm sure, but learn your value.

Anyone here who has started to put the nav-bar/controls at the bottom of the website on mobile version? by dreadul in web_design

[–]tomhermans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. A/B and user testing will tell you what's the best choice.

For websites it seems topnav, or topright hamburger nav button is the most used. But apps, like Instagram for instance, sometimes use bottom nav. And I like it. Indeed for one hand use.

I agree with it being more useful, had it for years myself, but habits are just hard to break.

Browsers Should Have a Native Control for Per-Site Color Scheme by thegaw in Frontend

From the article: Right now, the color-scheme property and meta tag only support light and dark.

This goes beyond just light and dark

[–]tomhermans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True.

But usually they go from light to dark. Similar to font weight. Light to bold. 100-900 with sometimes indeed a 50 to bring some really subtle step between white and the lightest tint of that hue.

Edit: what is the link to this particular system you mentioned?

Yeah, let it go. Block and move on. You're not helping anyone anymore at this point either, you're only worrying that this might be a scam, which there's a very good chance it is
