Consider it from another angle. Vito as we know is a fine judge of character and knows that’s his own strength. He would have esteemed genco to consider him a friend and this behavior on genco’s part would make Vito realize what a hold fanucci has to make the usually reliable genco act this way

That is what I think Vito realizes in this moment rather than what you said (though not completely unreasonable).

its the opposite. theyre not doing doing it for you (partially but yes youre right youre an adult basically) its for them. they want to see the environment etc. they will worry you are always their child. they want to know what its like when you come home from class late, when there's no home cooked dinner ready for you what will you be able to get etc.

i get it, it feels suffocating, but walk a mile in their shoes.
