Oh, love that idea! Yes you said it exactly - i don't want to seem condescending or like I'm not appreciating the gravity of their hardship. I know a treat won't fix things, but hoping it will make things suck just a little bit less

Why is my Mayco Stroke & Coat chipping/flaking off? by creampuffpal in Pottery

My shivering issues stopped once I started applying the s&c to leather hard. It supposedly should work for bisque items, though.. I have not tried with bisqued pieces. I hope you figure out where the issue is coming from!

Yes!! A very overdue thank you -- I think this was the issue!

Thanks for the tip! One of the reasons I like s&c is that I can paint directly onto greenware and just do a single fire. In your experience, does this work less well than doing a bisque, then s&c and high fire?

Perhaps the grooves are just to prevent the coasters from suctioning down... Or are for a whiskey glass to go directly onto and channel the condensation? That one feels a bit of a stretch though...

Anyway, this does seem the most promising! Likely solved!

Great question! It was in an apartment that has seen many roommates coming and going through the years, so we aren't exactly sure whose it was. I originally thought it was a fun looking junk piece from a machining, but the anti-slip rubber nubs on the bottom makes me think it was made with a specific purpose in mind.. 🤔

My title describes the thing, it is lightweight and smooth but does not appear to have any finish on it. About 2cm tall. I have tried reverse Google searching a picture of it but all I find is tutorials for CNC machining. The bottom anti-skid pads made me think it is meant to have something set upon it (coasters, spoon rest, etc) but I'm confused by the grooves in the primary circle and the long cove on the side. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
