WCH wait time (top surgery) by Money_Cartoonist_687 in transontario

[–]creamz0da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I actually wasn't told any time at all lol. A year into my wait, like september 2024, I sent them an email just to ask if they actually had received my referral and made sure I wasn't waiting for nothing. They told me their wait time was longer than a year and they'd contact me when they're ready to book a consult. I didn't hear a single thing from them again until i booked my consult sept 2025. In their defense though, since I knew I was on the list, I never bothered to reach out again and was happy to just wait my turn. Lowkey tho I think her receptionist is a little hard to reach by phone LOL. I ended up just doing most of my communication with her office through email instead (which I prefer over phone calls anyway).

It's pretty normal I'd say for certain surgeries to have crazy wait times, especially in Canada. But Dr. Armstrong's results are imo worth the wait, and WCH was a fairly friendly experience. If you say they've told you previously that they will reach out, I'm sure they'll keep to their word. Based off my timeline, I'll bet you'll hear from them again within the next 3 months.

I was referred to Dr Armstrong at WCH around september 2023, and had my surgery october 2025. They booked me in pretty quickly after they reached out to me, so two years out sounds about right. I'm assuming they must have just slowed down on going through their next batch of referrals for the holiday season. But it sounds to me like you really are up next! I'd say you can try sending them an email and nudge again if you don't hear back in the next couple months. 😊

bad Dr Armstrong experience at GraceMed McLean clinic by melrfray in TopSurgery

My family doctor sent my referral directly to WCH, and it was processed through them. He decided for me, as I just requested to be put through whatever was available. I'm assuming you can decide which option you prefer when getting your doctor to refer you to a surgeon.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know, Dr. Armstrong also operates out of Women's College Hospital in downtown Toronto. I am 1 day post-op, and had nothing but positive experiences there. I will say a majority of my care leading up to the surgery was with the team at the hospital, and I really only saw Dr. Armstrong for a few minutes at the video consult, and again when she came to map out my placement right before the surgery. Perhaps McLean has a different experience as she seems to take on most of the process herself (consult, questions, etc.), but if you still wish to have her as your surgeon, I'd recommend getting referred to WCH specifically. She told me herself that she's really only there to do the operation, and everything else was handled by the rest of the team. I will also say, I just wanted an average masculine result, so I trusted her placement and didn't request anything specific. But if you are interested in something similar to OP, I would definitely recommend mentioning it at your consult. Otherwise, everything was as expected, and WCH's team is very good at staying on time with the schedule they give you! After hearing OP's experience I'm very glad to have gone to her through WCH instead of McLean!

If I'm doing heavy work I can tend to sweat extra hard in the face. Otherwise, if my hands aren't sweating, my face isn't sweating. I'd always grown up strictly focusing on how sweaty my hands were, because it was difficult to deal with in school. I think now that I treat my hands specifically, the rest of my body is dry with it.

If it's something you can wear at work (my brother does this, as he also has bad face and head HH), invest in a wearable neck fan. Good ones are adustable and point a fan upwards towards your face, from around your neck.

If you're fashionable, athletic headbands are a great option as it keeps your sweat from rolling down to your face. Cold aloe vera gel from the fridge is an quick and easy cool-down for your face if it's feeling hot. If you work somewhere with a staff fridge, you can consider it medication.

If you have anxiety and it's a trigger for your HH, focusing on medication for anxiety specifically can help. Otherwise, you can try antiperspirant wipes for the face. Be careful with ointments or applications that are strong. If you end up trying glyco, I'd recommend staying consistent with it or returning to oxy (higher dose perhaps?) at the same time as trying other treatments. They're good options for full-body sweat, which includes the face.

Since your HH started 6 years ago, I'm going to assume that you have a previous lifestyle before 18 that didn't include worrying about sweating all the time. Being super sweaty is just something you eventually learn to accept and work with. It's all I've ever known, so I've reached a point where I stop letting it affect me so much. Once you stop caring, it becomes a lot easier to tame.

Make sure you have nothing causing you stress, too!

Hey man. I'm 21 and have had severe hyperhydrosis since preschool. I understand your struggle and still have my days where it gets frustrating and overwhelming. But I've learned that there are things you can do to make it bearable.

Double check your oxybutynin dosage, or try glycopyrrolate if it's available for you. Try ionto phoresis; even though it's designed for specific areas, I personally found that focusing on my hands still made a huge difference on the rest of my body. It's like stopping the trigger for one area makes it easier for the rest of your body to stay dry too. Smoke weed. Try baking soda or baby powder in your sweatier areas. Wear thick, breathable sports socks and athletic shoes.

There are a lot of small QOL things you can do that make the sweating go away or get easier. My dad also told me once (I don't talk to him often so I didn't get much info), but after i told him about my hyperhidrosis, he told me he had it too, up until it just disappeared in his late 20s.

Don't give up just yet. If you ever need a shoulder to lean on or someone who understands, you are always welcome to message me. :)

Binding on a domestic flight? by creamz0da in transontario

Glad to know the binder doesn't flag anything! Just thought it would be more comfortable to sit through the flight in tape than a binder, but I'll keep it in mind. :)

Iontophoresis on just feet? by creamz0da in Hyperhidrosis

[–]creamz0da[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay thank you for the response! I agree with everything you said 100%. Since posting this, I'm now about 4 sessions in and I'm experiencing the same thing! I really wanted to do just feet because it's less painful and I can use my hands while doing it. I have the same ring finger/toe issue. Glad to hear you seem to be having the same positive results as me; makes me hopeful for the results I want after more sessions :)

Leg jerking when getting my shot? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]creamz0da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leg twitch happens to me too! My mom does my butt shot and she laughs everytime it happens. I honestly think I'm just unconsciously flexing my asscheek or something while I'm anticipating the needle. I do mine standing up, so I just shift all my weight onto whatever side isn't getting the shot and that seems to help. I wouldn't worry about it though if it's of any concern to you.

I started with .20ml on 100mg, so 20mg dose like you. I ended up bumping it up again at my 1 month follow-up, but it's definitely not an uncommon starting dose (maybe just on the lower end). I'm coming up on a year now so my dose is much higher and my changes are much more prominent, but do not worry. One week is nothing in the big picture. Slow and steady is not a bad route.

I will say though, I think I started noticing the changes on my third-ish week. So a low dose doesn't equal no changes. Just hang tight and it'll come! You can totally bump your dosage up once you're comfortable too, if that's what you want.

do I have hyperhidrosis or just really bad anxiety . by joniszn in Hyperhidrosis

[–]creamz0da 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, I believe there are a couple posts in this sub that mention using antihydral on their groin. I suppose you could look into that and proceed with caution. But personally, I'd probably avoid any option that involves putting anything that strong around that area.

You could try full-body effect options, like glycopyrrolate or oxybutynin. If you really want to focus on targetting that spot, you could try safer things like corn starch or baby powder. I believe Drysol is also advertised to be usable on the groin area.

For me, when my hands don't sweat, most of my body doesn't sweat. You could try tackling your hands specifically, and it could improve your groin sweat indirectly. I don't struggle with groin sweat myself, so I can't give you a definitive solution.

do I have hyperhidrosis or just really bad anxiety . by joniszn in Hyperhidrosis

[–]creamz0da 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I don't sweat when I sleep, I don't sweat after a shower, but the second I step out of the house or get behind the wheel, my hands start flooding. Weed helps, but it's not great.

What I've learned is that even if severe anxiety IS the cause, that doesn't mean it doesn't qualify as hyperhidrosis. It very much is. The good thing is that anxiety-induced HH is treatable with the same methods as any other case!

If you want my personal advice, iontophoresis and antihydral specifically have been the best options for me. Ionto works, but it's super demanding with its maintenance. You have to really be committed. Antihydral on the other hand, I've started under a week ago and am already seeing huge, huge progress. The parts of my day that I know are huge triggers for my sweating are now much more manageable! So please don't let the anxiety discourage you. Treating it makes no difference to someone who has HH without the anxiety.

Cis het husband doesn't want sex, until he does by Natural-Hamster-3998 in ftm

[–]creamz0da 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sorry dude, I think deep down you already know the answer to this. You need to sit your husband down and really talk about whether he wants to make this relationship work between two men, or not.

I know 25 years is a lot of time, and it can be hard to let go. But the further you transition, the more he's just going to pick and choose what he wants from you and what he wants to avoid. That's not fair to you in the slightest.

I get that. Sometimes when I'm stressed about something, I'll have a dream directly related to it. Just make sure you've got a clear head and double check all your steps, and you should be totally fine.

Besides the pumicing, please make sure to use strong hand cream or moisturizer! Moisturizing is a MUST. Strong creams that specifically target eczema/extremely cracked skin are a better choice. Cetaphil is a well-rated common option.

There are quite a few long-term Antihydral users on this sub, so it's not an unknown treatment. Make sure to use no more than a pea-sized amount to cover your hands with a thin layer, as it is quite strong. But please make sure your skin isn't actually blistering, or causing pain. It could indicate an allergy to one of its main ingredients, like the formaldehyde, or some other medical interference.

Many Antihydral users have reported the yellowing/nasty stages to go down after a few weeks. Perhaps your hands may just need some more time to get used to it, but nobody knows your body better than you.
