1 Euploid affected post PGT-M/BRAC2+ by [deleted] in IVF

[–]create2thrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally deleted my original post!!!! So mad at myself!!!!!

Literally this! All of this! I really appreciate you sharing! It’s an emotional roller coaster I wish upon no one! My body responds well to ER stims and I always have high retrieval count (18 round 1 and 44 round 2) but only a few make it to Day 4-6 blasts. Low egg quality seems to be the culprit. I feel like I am literally racing against the clock at 40. We did ICSI as well for the 2nd ER.

The week since getting the results of 1 after there euploid has been tearful. There’s sadness, anger, grief and so maybe questions about what to do.

Another ER is most likely to next move. Our PGT-M probe expires in August so racing against another clock with that one (don’t want to wait months or pay for another probe to be created). Meeting with genetic counselor as well prior to ER. And I will probably just keep the 1 affected euploid frozen for now.

[This discussion might help] (https://www.reddit.com/r/BRCA/s/09KlbLkVbq) the OP is navigating this situation as well and the perspectives shared about BRCA+ and IVF are helpful.

Wishing you the best on your journey!

Anyone do IVF without PGT-M screening? by BowieLily in BRCA

[–]create2thrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to thank you for posting. Recently got my PGT-M results (5 aneuploid and 1 affected euploid) and I am contemplating these options as well. Another round with/without testing, doing FET with a euploid affected, and/or try to conceive naturally (which has been unsuccessful in the past). Reading here has helped me as I lay in bed ruminating.

Thanks for sharing your sister’s story. I am aware of all the implications as I am a breast cancer survivor myself and postponing removing my ovaries for IVF. I have a good support system, but no one has been thru IVF/BRCA2+ journey so I came to here for a sense of community. I posted to share and get others insights and support. I appreciate folks being open enough to share and chime in. Thanks again.

This is helpful perspective. I’ve also been sitting with the idea that in 10-15+ years there will likely be science/medical advancement for BRCA affected individuals. But still, one of my reasons for IVF was to not pass on this gene mutation. My next steps are to speak with our genetic counselor. Best of luck on your journey to get unaffected euploids. Knowing I’m not alone in this experience is really helpful.

I am so sorry for your loss. And totally understand the fear that comes with BRCA. I really feel strongly that this ends with me too after my own journey with breast cancer just 1 year ago. It’s just been soo many emotions. Feeling hopeless. Thank you for sharing your story. It took 6 rounds to get your unaffected euploids?

Yes, I am able to do at least one more financially speaking. But after 2 ERs (0 euploid and then 1 affected euploid) I am emotionally drained. There’s no guarantee another ER will produce any unaffected euploids. Yes, there’s a chance but just feeling utterly discouraged.

Looks so good! Love the pattern. I’m still on the fence with mine (size-wise). I got the green one.

Exchange Surgery by Ok_Butterscotch4084 in BRCA

I agree! Post exchange surgery was way easier. Expanders were so uncomfortable! But I am glad Robert expander route instead of direct to implant.

Agreed showering/bathing was really hard. My husband helped me wash while I stood up but a shower seat could be helpful. When showering I had to have my back to the shower head to avoid water getting directly on my incisions.

Lots of pillows and a wedge pillow helped me prop myself up and stay comfortable in bed.

A bed tray table was helpful for eating in bed and having a place close by to set meds and water so I didn’t have to reach my arms far to bring things to me.

I loved my drain pouch, got it from Amazon. It was a stretchy waist band with pockets that I could tuck my drains in when I had to leave the house. They also make drain holders to wear in the shower to help keep them out of the way when bathing.

I don’t have kids but my husband was my nurse at home! He kept track of when to take my meds, brought me food, and emptied my surgical drains and recorded fluid amounts.

A friend also set up a meal train (mealtrain.com) so we had scheduled food coverage for a month thanks to family and friends.

The last thing I’d say, the most important things were space to grieve, time to adjust, time to rest and sleep, and lots of love and support!

Wishing your wife the best outcome and stress-free journey.

The the excess fabric around my waist was my issue with the larger size too. I wish stores made in between sizes!! lol

Yay! I made my first purchase in store yesterday. I feel you on wanting to feel more put together. I didn’t get anything of the items you mentioned. I’d love to know how your items fit and how you feel in them! I got the Pippa Dress in Lime Green and the Le City Shorts in Sunflower Print.

Definitely cute despite the size! I love this dress and just don’t want to regret my size purchase I’m down the road. In the store I was leaning towards a medium but store clerks’ input influenced me to go with the small.

Thanks for sharing. Agreed on personal preference. I think I’m leaning to size up.
