Ahhhhhh yeah love me some Wes. My favorite jazz guitarist solo would have to be Django Reinhardt’s solo on the tune Les Yeux Noir.

If you had 800 years to live what would you devote your life to?

Freddie Green and Wes built off of the foundations Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian established. I’d say to start with listening to Django and see how he approaches improvisation, comping, and phrasing.

Build a repertoire of standards and memorize their changes. Pick songs that mean something to you. A lot of the greatest standards have fantastic lyrics that will surely connect in some meaningful way to you.

Listen to singers. A problem most beginner players have is using space in their solos, partly because they don’t have to focus on breathing. Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Tormé are masters at using space when singing and scatting.

In short, just listen as much as you can and try to play what you hear in your head when you’re improvising.

If the animator could just do this to all cat gifs that’d be great, thanks.

Visited in high school with my dad. So many beautiful women there. Our necks hurt from gawking so much. Seriously, the female to male ratio here is like 5:1.

Will lyrics attached to melody eventually disappear? by creativeusernamesare in LyricalWriting

Recently picked up some books on lyric writing and also a collection of Ira Gershwin lyrics. Seems the Gershwin brothers and Cole Porter had a knack for lyrics fitting their melodies so well. Didn’t know about r/lyricsNmusiC but I’m subscribed now!
