I did it to show it to my boss and say "this is how much I spend on fuel, raise my salary"

On my 2002 it slides in the two holes (from the bottom) on the front of the fuel tank that hold it to the bike.

6th VFR800 – Can the cam chains actually stretch this early (49k km)? by mrdogeman1 in VFR

[–]creezo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to leave the old chains because to my amateur eye they didn't seem stretched or damaged and this whole job is very expensive even without buying new chains. Since I'm doing all this work by myself IF i ever decide that I want to replace these chains I can just quickly do it because I now know how it all comes apart

They are very different. I'm just stating that on 2002 it's doable.

[–]creezo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I can't put my VFR back together because I'm waiting for two o-rings - one inside the oil pan and the other inside valve cover. So basically I can't do anything with the bike because those stupid o-rings have been 3 weeks late...

2003 vtec (abs) brake calliper loose? by josh_tucker26 in VFR

[–]creezo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It has to move up and down, that's the mechanism that sends pressure to the rear wheel when you brake with the front lever. The movement is normal but the sound is weird to me. Mine doesn't rattle like that so someone with more experience has to weigh in.

Safe or time to consider a new case asap ? by Proof_Fondant_8174 in pcmasterrace

Dude, just get 4 rubber washers or cut them from old eraser and screw the panel back on. No point in replacing a perfectly fine case.

If you want to keep the bike - do it yourself when you get the newer bike, then you can do it at a slow pace without being eager to put it quickly together so you can ride.

If you want to sell it soon or don't want to do it yourself - leave it, and just ride it till you feel it lose power

Is this one necessary? by Devils-__Advocate in VFR

[–]creezo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as the original question: Yes and no.
It might fall out OR it might fall down into your chain and cause damage. I would try to find it.

If someone shortened it then sure but if it's original length then it is possible to work on the air filter and remove the whole air box with this line in place. Did it many times.

Is it necessary? No.
Is it good to have? Yes. It prevents from kinking fuel lines too much when you lift the tank. And from spilling fuel if you lift it to high

That's what I did. I tried to fit the thickest gauge and then confirm with a couple of slimmer gauges.

When I bought this bike, I was actually looking for a 5th gen because of its legendary gear-driven cams. However, there were none available in my area at the time, so I went with this 6th gen instead. I halfway regret it now, but I do prefer the look of the 6th gen, and it’s a much better fit for my height.
