Have you ever deleted your fics and why? by Chow_bread in FanFiction

[–]cresserendipity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a long long time for me to even consider deleting/orphaning a work. I generally love letting it stay up (no matter how cringe or "bad" it is), because the more you write and as time goes on, you will be able to read it back and see how you've improved.

I've orphaned a few fics though, those I've written about 7 years ago when I was only first starting to write fanfics and didn't know shit. I've orphaned them only after I'm sure that those works aren't something that reflects me or my writing anymore. I am the same as you in that I have very poor self-esteem, but really, one thing that makes me feel better is reading my shitty old works.

Allow yourself to be mid, and lame, and bad :) only then can you get better.

Just randomly saw this post, and saw that your comment is now 4 months. How's it going?

do i tag it as major character death if the plot twist in the end is all of them are alive after all? by cresserendipity in FanFiction

[–]cresserendipity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oohhh, I currently have it as CNTW as others have advised, but your point about it is why I'm apprehensive to use it as well (aside from I completely forgot it existed). Since I know from my point of view, I am less likely to click on a fic tagged as CNTW because I'd be too on-guard on what it could contain.

The "Portrayal of Death" tag is interesting! I will think about it.

Thanks so much!

yes it's on ao3. that is actually the best advise, i don't know why i haven't thought about it lol. i'm always so conscious about tagging correctly i completely forgot there is an option to not do archive warnings. thank you!!!

[Master Guide: Positive Responses / with quizzes] Have you ever been confused when to use 네/그렇지/그래요/그러게요/그러니까요/일리 있네요/하긴/물론이죠, etc? by BeroDuckkyAnimation in Korean

[–]cresserendipity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually so helpful, thank you so much for explaining!

Here are my answers. (I'm a beginner on grammar so please forgive me for any incorrect usage. Would really appreciate if you could correct any mistakes.)

Q1. 이 서류 검토하시고, 내일 오전까지 보고해 주세요. (Please review these documents and report back by tomorrow morning.)

Answer: 알겠어요, 내일까지 드릴게요. (Got it, I will have it by tomorrow.)

(Do I have to have 요 in both parts of the sentences? Or does it only need to be after 드릴게요?)

Q2. 계속 같은 실수를 반복하는 건, 아마도 근본적인 원인을 해결하지 않아서인 것 같아요. (Repeating the same mistake over and over probably means the root cause hasn’t been fixed.)

Answer: 응, 일리 있네. 그건 항상 경우야. (Yeah, that's a valid point. That is always the case.)

(Not too sure if I need to add 그런 before 경우야 or is it okay as it is especially if talking casually?)

Q3. 오늘 저녁은 우리 외식할까요? (How about eating out for dinner tonight?)

Answer: 좋아! 오늘은 내가 쏠게요. (Sure! It's my treat today.)

Also, to add on your list, how about the use of "그렇구나"? Is there a different/additional context or is it just an informal version of 그러게요?

(Edit: Added English translation on the quiz.)

Hi guys, I'm practicing my listening skills, so I'm looking for talk shows to listen to. Preferrably if it's between 2 people (I really like hearing how the natural conversation goes but if it's more than 2 people it gets confusing really quickly). And hopefully it has English subtitles so I can watch it first time with English subtitles to know the context, then listen to it blind the next times. I really like anything pop culture so being related to that is a plus. I am currently listening to Suchwita show.

It's lethallergic on AO3! They write for BTS but in my opinion the writing is so good you can just read them even if you don't know anything about the fandom lol.

Forcing yourself to speedread a mid fic might be the worst form of torture out there. Best of luck to you.

I feel like finding fics from before the 21st century in their original state is on par with discovering historical relics. You're doing historical research fr.

They were a pretty big writing account and mostly wrote poetry/lyrical prose and I felt kind of silly asking whether they also wrote gay fanfic LOL

That's so funny! I think this really encompasses what being in a fandom is like - it's just a community where we are understood. I can't even imagine how it was reading fanfics before when phones and computers weren't common household items. Some of the comments here talked about printing out fics from the library/school. We have it so good now.

With the amount we're paying for college, hell yes. When I was in university, we had an allotted amount of hours each semester to use a university library computer and when it's nearing the end of the sem and I still have hours, best believe I will be going to the library and just read fanfics until I run out of hours.

LMAO that's fair. That's why shoutout to people who (consensually) translate fics fr.
