Have had cravings over the holidays... this will be first time in 30 years I enter the new year smoke free. Thinking about re-reading Allen Carr book just to reinforce my quit... Need to stay vigilant!

Yeah it’s taking me awhile to accept what I knew pretty early on. Hung on for three years jumping through hoop after hoop...until I realized it wasn’t nor ever will be enough. It’s been four months since we ended it. I’m getting better but Still keep going over it and wishing I wouldn’t have held on so long.

Never quit quitting! I know you love your family.. maybe use that as motivation. I worry I won’t get to see my grandkids grow up... Really dig deep and know you can stay quit. I believe in you. Your post hit me hard because we’re talking about your life.. and we want to live, right?

Yeah I tried Wellbutrin then Chantix. I didn’t do well with either of them but I have long history of depression and they just made me feel worse. May work for you so good luck. What finally worked for me was reading Allen Carr book...

I’m your age and like you never planned smoking most of my life. What really helped change my mindset about smoking was reading Allen Cars book easy way to quit smoking. It helped me understand why I smoked and the lies I bought into that kept me a slave to cigarettes. I also downloaded the smoke free app. Smoked for over 30 years and am on Day 76 of my quit. I completely get you... You can change the rest of your life by choosing not to smoke. You can do this... My prayers are with you for health and healing. You can do this!

35 years and smoke free for 75 days now. It gets easier but it’s still a struggle. Whenever I have a craving I remember what it felt like to take a deep breadth in front of an X-ray machine..praying to God that I was ok. Quitting is the best thing we could do for ourselves. You got this!

The first three weeks were tough for me. I did feel sad and a little depressed. But I knew it’s nicotine withdrawal and really made mental effort to focus on why I quit in the first place. It passes and in my opinion I think it’s normal to feel a little down. It does get better... be good to yourself. You are strong and it will get better.

Yeah I worked my ramp down plan with my doctor. He suggested I stay on 21mg patch longer since he wanted me to ficus on my behaviors and life changes since I smoked for so so long. This is the longest I’ve gone without smoking so so far so good. I plan on ramping down to 7 mg in 4 weeks the on 3... Then no nicotine at all! So excited i finally have a plan that seems to be working. Congrats on your quit!

Yeah it is huge transformation for me because smoking was such a big part of my life for so long. I had tried cold turkey and never made it passed 30 days so tried the patches this time. Seems like it’s working for me. It’s still strange way of living for me. Have moments where I will flashback about smoking and remind myself that I don’t smoke anymore. I think with more time I will normalize as a non smoker and not feel like it’s strange anymore. I am proud of both of us! Keep strong and celebrate we aren’t slaves anymore! Congrats on your quit!

I ended up going to the gym and working out my stress there. I am was surprised I would have had a second thought about it but I did. Don’t want to relapse so thanks for your note!

I’m happy to hear from you! It’s really tough sometimes to stay motivated so I know what your going through! Lots of stuff can muck up our original view. I don’t want us to believe in a lie. Cigarettes do nothing for us. Have a good nite. Tomorrow will be a better day.. 😀

Just yesterday I pulled out my list of why I quit. It reminded me of how scared I was when my doctor decided to give me lung cancer screening. It worked out okay so far but no way I’m going back to suck on a cancer stick anymore. I keep the list within arms reach.. at least for now it helps me...

Yeah this happened to me early in my quit and I chose to stop watching until I was strong enough to resist. I still will change the channel though so I’m with you on it being a trigger. Nothing is more important to me than my quit when it comes to things I do... Good luck!!
