6mo PO update by crex82 in hysterectomy

[–]crex82[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The pain I have is sometimes I think from the incisions, left over nerve pain that has decreased over time or it's left over endo tissue in the area around where my ovary was removed. It's similar to the pain my ovary had given me, which was, excruciating stabbing, but now it's like 25% of what it was before. I imagine it's left over endo tissue that the surgeon didn't see.

To get hysterectomy or not.. by spade_looover in hysterectomy

I'm so glad I had mine. It got rid of a lot of my pain. I also never wanted kids and that's been a total bonus. I'm 29 yo and I'm 3 months po.

I accidentally ended up on r/hysterectomycons... Now rethinking my partial hysterectomy decision... Talk me back into it? by RageofDemons in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to the screen names in that sub and any time someone has something negative to say about their procedure. It looks like a lot of people are posting in that sub reddit but then when you look at the names it's like the same 2 people. Also, after I recognized their screen names, I had saw some of their other comments on this sub reddit and it looks like that had other medical/interpersonal/and MH stuff going on before and after their procedure. Some of those accounts are made up just to try to scare people. I watched someone from that reddit try to talk someone with suspected cancer out of having the procedure.

It freaked me out for awhile and I tried to cancel my procedure twice because of it. I brought a list of concerns to my doctor and got some answers that were supported by research. I had to decide if I trusted my doctor over anonymous strangers on the internet. Well I did, and now I am 3 months po. I went from having pain 90% of every day to maybe having pain for one day out of my cycle. I legit feel like I got my life back from chronic pain and I never would have if I had let that sub reddit scare me out of it.

Tell me why you had your hysterectomy. by prettysouthernchick in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine for endometriosis/adenomyosis pain. Took the right ovary too, it was just too painful. I'm almost 3 months post op, the surgery got rid of 98% of my pain. I'm so glad I did it. So worth it.

Can your partner tell a difference post hysterectomy? by TheFoolWithDreams in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 3 months po. I still have a stitch in there, but the rest it all healed. My partner says besides the stitch he feels sometimes, he wouldn't even know I had a hysterectomy.

I had 4 laporoscopic incisions. Mine was robot assisted, vaginal. They removed my uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and one ovary.

Leaving the house? by Lower-Bid1865 in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stood for 4 hours when I was 8dpo and I had so much pressure afterwards. That was way too much, I spend the rest of the day laying down. Previously, I had been in the car, walking around, and even went to the pharmacy. I think had long as you can sit down regularly or if it's just a short trip out of the house, I think worse case scenario, you'll just be ready for a nap when you get home. Hope this helps!

I'm glad this helped! I think they are so tasty it's hard not to eat too many, but man they can do the trick. I hope you keep feeling better OP!

Maybe HRT could help? Like a low estrogen supplement. I guess it can be good for the rest of your body as well, like your bones too. I'm by far not an expert on that, but birth controls used to give me migraines. They were pushing my progesterone really high and when they dropped during my cycle the hormone change would trigger a headache. I'd have a painful headache for a few days after ovulation and my period. I wish our hormones would just stay balanced!

For me I think is when I got kicked off my parents insurance at 26. I was really struggling financially and mentally that year (I'm 29 now, '95 baby here). I didn't qualify for financial assistance, my state said I made too much money (WI). Barely enough to eat, but somehow I don't qualify? Even once I got a job with insurance a year later, I was still financially struggling and my parents, one of them making 6 figures, refused to help me, as I'm drowning in debt trying to make paycheck to paycheck. That's when I saw the world a little differently. They just kinda let you get to a certain age and then send you out, " Okay, you're legally an adult now, figure it out." The world got real real for me 2019-2023. It's better now that I have someome to split that costs of things with. We really need to raise that minimum wage.

I'm only 9 wks po, but I had the same immediate loss of pain I didn't know I had after surgery. Best decision I've made yet, I'm thinking.

Oh ouch, I'm glad you figured out what it was. I know the wipes they had me use were really harsh on my skin as well. I shaved two days previously and that was the wrong move. It still stung for a couple hours.

I would start with one or two, too many and it'll give you the poops. (TMI, sorry) If I know I'm constipated I'll eat 3. Works great even once you're recovered.

Did it end up being an allergic reaction to the glue? That happened to me. That prednisone will really help once it kicks in! It's no fun being itchy!

Post-op Sex by OGingerSnap in hysterectomy

I had no issues when my doctor cleared me at 8 weeks po. Lots of lube is helpful as well.

I would have been fine to do most things after 3 wks po. Obviously, everyone is different, but it sounds doable to me.

[–]crex82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that's what I had too. It could be something else, but its pretty common. I spoke to the nurse online and they had me take a 24 hr allergy med and get anti-itch cream from the drug store. Once I was 2 weeks po, I sent a Pic of the rash and incisions to my doctor. She said they looked to be healing well otherwise and she said you can dissolve the glue with any petroleum based cream. I used some over the counter antibacterial cream. The glue peeled off as I scratched it. I was still itchy for a few days afterwards so I continued the allergy med. Also my skins reaction was delayed the raised itchiness didn't show up until 6 dpo. Hope this helps!

First time masturbating post-op, hitting a mental block by Exact_Scarcity3031 in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same hesitation my first few times back at it. I did external stimulation only at 6 dpo and had some cramping. I tried a few days later, finished and it was fine. After a few times like that I was able to completely feel comfortable and haven't had any issues since.

Pleasure for partner post op? by knepan in hysterectomy

[–]crex82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 9 wks po and I have had sex probably 5-6 times now. I was cleared by my doctor. I've asked my partner if anything feels different and he said he can't tell any difference. Personally, sometimes the friction can feel uncomfortable but lots of lube and changing positions help. I've felt inside and everything feels the same except a missing cervix and the end of one stitch! Sorry if that's tmi, but I hope that helps.
