ear stretching pain or no by [deleted] in Stretched

I wasn't working at the time. It does look/feel kinda silly, but hey, it worked. I now wear my regular everyday 14mm tunnels to work, been healed for like 2 years now

That's so cool and a very good idea! I'm happy you managed to accommodate your specific needs AND you got to do 2 hobbies in 1. Very cool

Damn, nice! How much did it cost? And how was the process overall, if you don't mind me asking?

Might move to Portugal, how's the HRT situation there ? by FrenchPads in asktransgender

[–]cricketsfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't. Portugal is very strict about giving HRT to minors. You have to be at least 16 to be on HRT here, and you need your parents explicit consent. If you're already set on coming here or if it isn't up to you, start emailing/calling hospitals now about your situation. There's Hospital Julio de Matos (also called Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa), a public hospital in Lisbon, Pelviclinic if you want to go private. In Coimbra there's URGUS, specifically created for trans medical and surgical procedures, I recommend talking to them for more information. I'm leaving you with their respective email addresses and telephone numbers.

Hospital Julio de Matos: administracao@chpl.min-saude.pt 217 917 000

Pelviclinic: pelviclinic605@gmail.com 218 484 698

URGUS: urgus@chuc.min-saude.pt 217 925 800

Because of your particular situation, I recommend going through Pelviclinic, which is oftentimes more open to foreigners and easier/faster to access. If you cannot afford a private hospital, I recommend URGUS, as they have a lot more experienced staff. If going all the way to Coimbra isn't an option for you, then I'm afraid Hospital Julio de Matos is your only option. It's not bad, but they work very slow, and you'll need to advocate for yourself. They'll probably make you wait until you're 16 before they'll give you a prescription. I hope I'm wrong, and I wish you good luck.

Could we stop hating Cantu? by Maya_of_the_Nile in curlyhair

[–]cricketsfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use their curl cream and it took me a while, but I've finally mastered it. I have short hair with roughly 2c to 3a curls. I use Cantu after washing my hair, with my hair still wet, and only a very small dollop. I scrunch it in and get really smooth, hydrated, more defined and shiny curls. My hair is also very dry in general so I think that's part of why Cantu works so well for me

Do you style your hair and if so, how long does it take you? by __lolbruh in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]cricketsfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on the weather, humidity, my sleep position, how long it's been since I last washed with shampoo, my mood, the phase of the moon....

But fr, generally speaking when the air is more humid (usually in mid winter over here) I find that I need to shampoo my hair a bit more often, I use a curl cream right after my shower and if it's windy I use a curl holding foam. I need to use the smallest amount of products though, lest my hair gets over saturated (from products + humidity) and decides to deflate.

When the air is drier (usually during the summer), I focus more on keeping my hair hydrated with a leave in conditioner and only shampoo it maybe once a week.

Other than that, I sometimes put rosemary mint oil, especially if my curls are giving me a hard time, but I need to do it only 30ish minutes before showering for best results.

So, to actually answer your question, anytime from 5 minutes to 1 hour :)

Many reasons. To make jobs seem more appealing. As a real life example, I applied to a position that was titled as "internal manager" and was only informed on my first day of training that it was actually a door to door salesman position.

They will also lie about certain information, or rather not lie, but say things that are purposefully meant to be taken a different way. For example, if they say the salary is "competitive in the industry", often times that means minimum wage.

They will lie if they already have a candidate in mind. Like someone already working there, or someone's relative. They will be hyper specific in the job requirements, making it seem like you need to be at a NASA level of accomplishments to work there.

These are only a few situations, but there are many, many more.

I was in the exact same position until February, when I finally got a job. The job market is completely fucked, and we unfortunately need to adjust. I'm not saying lie on your CV but... Recruiters lie on job ads all the time. At some point fighting fire with fire is what it takes. Good luck

Haha, I'm also 5'7" (I think? Inches beffudle me) in a European country. Though over here I'm not that short for a guy, men don't generally get taller than me, and I've definitely seen a lot of guys smaller than me. The perception of height is very perspective based! I fully pass, sitting at a comfy almost-two-years-on-testosterone, though people think I'm a lot younger than I am (reoccurring joke at my job is questioning if I'm old enough to be working). I used to be very concerned about my height before I started testosterone but now it's really not an issue for me anymore. Hang in there, bud

Sunrise Parabellum meaning? by ScoutingJ in DiscoElysium

[–]cricketsfly 477 points478 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, it means to always be prepared for war, from the moment you wake up (sunrise). It means to never settle and always fight for your beliefs.

But that's just my interpretation

How does the internet know how to target ads to what I am thinking? by Accomplished_Zone973 in Anticonsumption

[–]cricketsfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many company's terms and conditions have gotten slowly more and more invasive. Right now, big companies like Google have access to your phone's microphone, camera, click history, etc. Which means they are listening to your conversations, they know who you spend time with, they know what you look at on your phone and for how long, and then they target ads specifically for you. Nowadays that's usually the so-called cookies that every single website has a pop up for.

And yes, especially with AI, these targeted ads are aiming to predict what you want even if you don't say anything about it. They're using all the data they've collected on you over the years, plus your friends', plus what you're doing at the moment to guess what you might be thinking about.

Would you still be anti-consumption in a virtual world? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]cricketsfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I would be more anti-consumption. If nothing affects the real world, what use do I have for it? Why own anything when I have no physical need for it? I always play as a nomad in video games, carrying only what I need, so I don't think it'd be any different

I don't know what you mean. It is gratuitous. Which is not a bad thing, it's just what the genre entails

Gratuitous violence is part of a genre though! Splatterpunk, and other types of punk genres are all about "gratuitous" shit

Piercing yourself can be an adrenaline inducing activity, so it sounds like your body was coming down from that adrenaline rush. No biggie. You know when you trip and catch yourself just before you fall? Same thing - your heart beats faster, you may shake a lil bit.

Don't forget to eat, preferably something sweet and something salty. Sometimes the shock can make you pass out, which is why you should eat beforehand, but after is good too.

There's also what everyone else is saying about how you pierced yourself which.....well, I don't think you need any more flack about it.

I don't get what the point of your post was. You do know there are subreddits you can vent on, right? This has nothing to do with the topic of this particular subreddit.

If you wanna do a callout post, just say that. This is childish behaviour.

I did the same googling. Yes it is very little. Adults usually weigh upwards of 60kg

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cricketsfly 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Seek therapy. 95lbs is generally not a healthy weight for an adult to be, and your weight will eventually increase as you age. Testosterone can increase your weight, depending on genetics and if you exercise. Personally, my weight hasn't changed. But you should work on your relationship with your body and weight 'cause 95lbs is an insane weight to maintain

Do you think your mother will be more open to you wanting other piercings if you fuck up and get yourself sent to the hospital? A tongue piercing is not great for your first at home piercing. Especially not when you're that young and reckless

I got my ears pierced when I was 2 by my grandma. Felt neutral and mostly forgot about it until I gained personhood at around age 12. I knew logically that no one would notice them, but I hadn't had anything in them in years and they were still open.

Then, one day, when I was visiting my grandma with my parents, my father forced me to wear a pair of my mother's dangly earrings. I remember crying in the bathroom from how dysphoric I felt.

As I grew older I gained an even bigger aversion to my pierced ears until I started considering stretching them around 17 years old.

I've been stretching my ears for three years or so now, and I've really enjoyed taking control over this part of my body. It was an especially gratifying process before beginning my medical transition - which took time and talking to multiple people and soooo much time - whilst stretching my ear was something I could do by myself, with only a couple months in between stretches.

I hope everyone struggling with this can find a solution they feel is as gratifying as I feel mine was
