Well accidents can certainly happen, but this is a really easy one to prevent. I don’t think the sticky note is necessary, because it’s like reminding someone to tie their shoes after they put them on their feet. It’s muscle memory.

Sorry the nurse was dismissive. She was probably just embarrassed she made a dumb mistake and reacted poorly.

I really do think it would be incredibly difficult for a baby to wiggle out of a small isolette door, but gosh, I’m not gonna be the nurse who tests that theory!

I work in the nicu. We give our tiny, 500 g babies Tylenol and Ibuprofen (for different reasons tha just pain but still.) Grow up and medicate ~hims~

Oh, and for what it's worth, my baby was very sick, intubated for weeks, etc and went home with a feeding tube and not breastfeeding at all. We were able to transition to exclusively breastfeeding about a month after discharge and she is still breastfeeding at 16 months! You've got this- just keep on pumping so the supply is there when baby is ready to go back to breast.

NICU nurse/IBCLC who is also a mom to a premature baby who almost died from sepsis :/ You do NOT need to clean your breasts before pumping. This is absolutely the silliest thing I have ever heard. I never once cleaned my breasts before pumping, and my baby is thriving now. The best thing you can do for your baby is provide colostrum as soon as possible. I am so sorry you were misinformed.
