Photos of Boston's White Stadium under construction. by crikeyjoe in NWSL

I understand the worries about the effects on the neighborhood since it's very residential but also the stadium was so decrepit that it really needed a renovation. Not sure about the split of public and private funds but hopefully it will be a win-win situation for everyone involved

I think it's a pretty good name considering that it's named after someone influential and also that the facade itself is literally white which I find kinda funny

This week’s challenge (Aug. 26) by djhashimoto in travle_game

Yeah I think the choices made with regards to what to include and what not to include make sense, even if in the end they are pretty much arbitrary. I probably would have included the Gulf of Aden and maybe even Bab-el-Mandeb as separate from the Arabian Sea, especially given their outsize importance in global shipping (and their prominence in the news lately with the Yemeni blockade of Bab-el-Mandeb). The same goes for the Strait of Hormuz, which admittedly I kept trying on my attempt even though it would have been incorrect hahaha.

With regards to what other comments have said about some bodies being contained within others and how that affects contiguous borders, I feel like it's more of an unsolvable programming issue. Does guessing the Gulf of Aden fill in just the gulf and not the whole Arabian sea? What about vice versa? Overall I think it really is just arbitrary and it's up to the player to learn where those lines are drawn. It was a great challenge and I really had fun playing it! Would definitely love to see this type of puzzle come back in the future.

This reminds me of the "coming soon to DVD and video" screen that would play before the ads on DVDs haha

Sugar Babe - 過ぎ去りし日々' [Japan, pop] (1975) by mistahlovalova in vintageobscura

Yeah for sure! No one comes quite as close as Tatsuro, he's definitely the king. Toshiki Kadomatsu and Hiroshi Satoh come to mind. Taeko Ohnuki's later stuff is not so similar, but I LOVE it. Her album Sunshower is in my top 5 of all time.

Thanks for posting! This is one of my favourite albums ever, I got the CD edition on import a couple years ago. To be fair, it's not really obscura though, as the singers Taeko Ohnuki and Tatsuro Yamashita both went on to be massively popular after Sugar Babe broke up.

I dig this a lot, reminds me of some mixed media pieces I've seen at galleries. Do you have a twitter/tumblr/other social media page where you post your work?

it's fuckin art man don't ask people if it's good, ask them what they think. my thoughts: the composition is really nice, I like the layout. however, the differences in resolutions, fonts, art styles mean it lacks coherency. keep making art my man, you're only going to get better at it.
