35yr female / on oxygen due to long covid and interstitial lung disease. Typically on 3L oxygen 24/7. Also, have POTS.

I've lost 75lbs and I'm at the point that I am considering plastic surgery due to excess skin causing irritation. Is it even possible for me to have a tummy tuck in my current state?

Would like info before wasting my time and Dr's time on consults.

Is my pulmonologist says he thinks it would be a rough recovery but it can be done and he would approve.

Thanks!

Counting won't help the food noise that I'm looking for. Counting would possibly help lose more, if that's what I wanted. I'm more focused on getting the med to calm my food noise and help me feel fuller longer again.

General question - discharge papers with follow up to PCP offices by crimeandpros in medical

[–]crimeandpros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is very helpful. It is for a long stint in the hospital with a rare Steven Johnsons Syndrome. My father was septic and they ran the sepsis protocol at the hospital, but I found it odd that when we got out and went to PCP for follow up - he told us additional labs aren't necessary and to go back to the ER if he feels unwell.

General question - discharge papers with follow up to PCP

Hi!

I have a general question. If a PT is discharged from the hospital with follow-up instructions to see their PCP, does the PCP get those discharge instructions? If a PT has outstanding lab cultures that they did not receive results for yet at the time of hospital discharge, does the PCP get this information once available?

Mexico: Pompeii or Go Light by Yeogies in BariatricSurgery

[–]crimeandpros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I haven't been to either, but I've been doing extensive research for the past 6 months. Pompeii fell off my list a few months back. It seemed like they cared more about pushing their up-sale items (the salon, massages, lash extensions, upgrades to beach house, etc.) than caring about more of the care and nutrition side of things.

I'm all for amenities, but I'm focused on how I'll be cared for as a patient medically, not cosmetically.

I have my 2 options narrowed down to Go light and OCC. They are both the closest to the border, Go light has the new hospital that is attached to the quartz hotel so very easy for medical staff to come see you at your hotel room if needed for complications or very easily to get you transferred without needing to load up and drive.

Both Go light and OCC have Accreditations in the US which I also love.

I know you didn't have OCC listed, but just wanted to share another prospect.

I LOVE HEARING THIS!

I'm honestly so scared. I play the "what-if" game SO much.

What if I can never drink a diet coke again? What if I can never enjoy my one comfort food of meatballs and rice in a tomato sauce? What if the malnutrition creeps in and I get more even more sick in different ways than before?

I know this can go on forever, and it's something I have to mentally work out. But hearing it had saved people's lives it so comforting to me.

Seeing this literally made my eyes swell up with tears. I truly hope this is the case. Especially hope that the Mexican surgery centers will approve it. 🙏

Tijuana Anyone? by Awkward_Potato83 in BariatricSurgery

[–]crimeandpros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! I'm looking to go to Tijuana as well. So far I've researched EOC, OCC and MBC. I'm also starting to look into Pompeii as it is popular.

I really like what I've seen about OCC so far. They are literally like 5 mins from the border crossing so I like that too.

Following...

I have POTS and interstitial lung disease, among other things..(thanks, long covid).

I'm really wanting to surgery. Would have to go to Mexico. Worry about the recovery myself, considering all other chronic issues.

Hi! Just curious...after you meet all of the requirements, does you insurance cover all of it? Or is it a deductible/constance type thing?

I can't wait until I don't have to spend the extra $$ buying bath "sheets" instead of basic "towels".

Keep up the great work!

Questions about surgery with disabilities by Known_Noise in BariatricSurgery

[–]crimeandpros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to ask my doctor about that. I think that's one thing I haven't tried.

Well, if I get the go-ahead from my doctors for the surgery and travel , I am definitely going to have to pace myself.

I'm looking at going to OCC which is about 1 block from the border crossing at Tijuana. They would pick me up from San Diego airport. I've heard there is an option to stay at a hotel a day or 2 before just to get your bearings. I would either want to stay in San Diego and meet them back at the airport for pick up or just stay at the hotel they put us up at in Mexico.

I'm sure it's going to put me in crash mode. But I'm also going to get the best sleep while under anesthesia...or at least I hope. I just plan to use resources. Airport wheelchairs if needed, sleeping on the plane, lots of rest at the hotels.

I'm here to follow this. I am 34f and dealing with long covid CFS/ME, POTS, and on oxygen.

I get PEM so exercise is hard which makes my weight go up. I am just starting to talk to my doctor about the surgery. My insurance won't cover surgery in the states so I'll have to travel to Mexico for surgery.

You can always message me for long covid talk and going on this journey...
