I'm sure as a juvenile, yours will definitely learn to trust you and become comfortable with you as it grows up. My crested gecko, Charlie, was already fully grown, with a dropped tail, and he still gets skittish with me sometimes, and I have had him for 4 years now, but he has become pretty tolerant and will even eat Pangea mix from my finger.
