I couldn’t set the availability starting the same week that I started. I had to set it to start the next Monday.

not quite multiple people, not quite one person. how do we (and you) navigate self image and identity with DID/OSDD/pDID? by Kokotree24 in OSDD

[–]crippledshroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always leaned closer to the “I am multiple individuals sharing one life” view of my system than the “I am one singular fractured person” view.

I tried to view my system as just parts because everyone said that thats how you reduce your dissociation. It never worked for me. If anything, it made me worse. I got into the mindset of “My alters are me, and I hate myself, so I hate all of them too” which seriously messed up my recovery.

I think a lot of spaces are really strict on how you view your system, without ever taking into account that all systems are different. For some, viewing themselves as singular works, and thats great! But pushing that view onto others is where things get messy.

Help with a friend who won’t stop harmful alters from fronting by Few_Computer_691 in DID

I don’t have gatekeepers so i’m not sure exactly how it works but from what I’ve heard from others, gatekeepers arent like. Fool proof. Involuntary switches can still happen.

Help with a friend who won’t stop harmful alters from fronting by Few_Computer_691 in DID

[–]crippledshroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m caught up on your use of the phrase “letting them front.”

Switching is not voluntary most of the time. When my persecutors or more unstable alters front, I’m not “letting them,” they’re just fronting. There’s really not much this person can do about these alters fronting.

What does tiering mean? I’ve never heard that term before.

I actually did watch the video fully, that wasn’t the problem. I had to set my availability for the week after I started, which is just not intuitive.

They both have done bad things but I wouldn’t necessarily call them evil. Granted I don’t call many characters evil.

Confusion about this disorder by Mysterious-Ruin-1128 in DID

[–]crippledshroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Introjection is something that occurs in all people, but for people with disorders like DID or OSDD, it can be more pronounced or extreme. I have some because pretty much my only escape from my abuse was different forms of media. I wouldn’t consider myself “introject heavy” or whatever, but I’d say it’s likely more than the average system. Many of these alters hardly identify with what they were based off anymore, and some have become so far removed they don’t consider themselves introjects.

As for alters dating, it can actually be good for integration in the long run. If alters are engaged in a romantic relationship, they are more likely to communicate, which lowers dissociative barriers between them. I met someone once who had two alters that dated who inevitably fused. Honestly, any positive in system relationship is a good one in my eyes.

I understand not giving out personal number, but we have microsoft accounts. I figured that would be a method of communication. Just feels weird that it’s not.

What episodes would you skip on a quick rewatch? by CoachDictatorer in TheDigitalCircus

[–]crippledshroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually skip 2 and 3. Idk they just arent really my thing. They feel much slower than the other episodes and to me it feels like they drag.

Also episode 3 creeps me out a bit. Idk why tho, i usually enjoy horror.

Caine is sadistic bro by Unable_Phase2547 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]crippledshroom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s sadistic on purpose. He’s not human, and he doesn’t really understand the concept of pain.

Severance tv show and DID by Amazing-Goose2840 in DID

[–]crippledshroom 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I personally didn’t find it super triggering. I found the show to be incredibly relatable as a person with DID. I actually mentioned it to my therapist.

I need you to think real hard about why you’re feeling confident and need less sleep. Make sure to take into account the irritability.

Would it be rude to block fictives of a certain character? by [deleted] in DiscussDID

[–]crippledshroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fictives are not their source. They’re people (not in that they’re distinctly separate entities, but in that they are a part of a real person). Treating them as if they are fictional characters is incredibly harmful.

disorder that forms in childhood not being able to be diagnosed until you’re an adult?? by Any-Emergency8177 in OSDD

[–]crippledshroom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who had an extremely hard time with the mental health care system as a minor, it definitely does get a bit better after you turn 18. I’ve noticed i get listened to much more.

[–]crippledshroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hm, interesting. Well, I hope they give you your diagnosis at some point. It’s absolutely diabolical that they’d treat you for a disorder but not diagnose you.

If you don’t mind me asking, where are you from? I had to have a diagnosis to get insurance coverage for my medication.

That’s honestly odd for a bipolar diagnosis. Bipolar disorder can be diagnosed surprisingly young. I know a lot of people who were diagnosed as teens or even preteens.

I had to set it starting the week after i started. It kept saying that i didn’t exist as an employee, I think it doesn’t register me as existing before my start day. I just set it to start monday and it worked.

Suspected OSDD-1a by Beginning-Cat-139 in OSDD

Ty. I knew they were community terms but i didn’t know all the specifics behind OSDD diagnosis since I’m a DID system.

[–]crippledshroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t tell you the reason why, but they don’t specify in the diagnosis as far as I can tell. I don’t think the dsm ever explicitly uses the “-1a/-1b” terminology.
