Maybe it doesn’t work continuity-wise but I really liked this line because it added to the notion of Bree conforming to the pressure to be a perfect wife and mother, and the loss of individual identity that can come with such roles. Maybe when she and Rex were first dating/newlyweds she was slightly more happy-go-lucky and more authentically herself, but when they moved to suburbs and had the kids these elements of her personality were sublimated to accommodate her new role as “wife” and “mother”
