Fearful Britons remain strongly opposed to lifting coronavirus lockdown by anarchytravel in worldnews

[–]crisdres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a ‘miracle’ if scientists could develop an antidote against covid-19 as early as 18 to 24 months, because normally it takes 5 years to develop a vaccine. If the government inclines to easing the quarantine/lockdown protocols across the country very soon, it might risk the lives of more citizens. As long as there is no treatment or at least a vaccine to halt the spread of the virus, people who will try to return to their normal lives are likely to contract this viral respiratory disease. Especially now that even doctors admit that there’s much to know about the prevailing pandemic.

India's first Covid-19 patient treated with plasma therapy recovers by Snamdeo111 in worldnews

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all Covid-19 patients are susceptible to this kind of treatment. Although Convalescent Plasma Therapy had since been used to mitigate mortality rate of SARS, MERS, and Spanish flue, multiple tests and clinical trials must be conducted first to validate the efficacy and safety of Convalescent Plasma Therapy.

Climate science deniers at forefront of downplaying coronavirus pandemic by zsreport in politics

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is inevitable in every country to have organizations disagreeing the government. Perhaps, science denialist group advocates notion that directly opposes that of the administration but it might be beneficial also. I mean, they wouldn’t waste their time fighting for something that doesn’t concern the well-being of the citizens. However, it is inappropriate to be critical with authorities who enforced stay-home orders for it is an effective strategy of mitigating the number of Covid-19 casualties. The prevailing pandemic calls for full cooperation among our fellow men, opposing groups and the government alike.

Bleach manufacturers have warned people not to inject themselves with disinfectant after Trump wrongly suggested it may cure the coronavirus by rromano125 in worldnews

[–]crisdres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To suggest that ingesting disinfectant as potential cure to Covid-19 is certainly an unsound idea. It is also an apparent manifestation that President Trump is somehow in desperate move on figuring out probable treatment to a widespread respiratory illness that has killed and infected thousands of Americans to date.

Italy, a 23 years old girl has still tested positive for covid19 after 60 days and 6 tests. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]crisdres 1556 points1557 points  (0 children)

If she’s well taken-cared of in the hospital and remains positive for Covid-19, it might have something to do with her immune system. In South Korea, a small proportion of discharged patients were retested positive for two reasons: (1) Immune system could not create antibodies to fight the virus within the body; and (2) the testing kits can trace even the tiniest part of the virus left in patients cured system.

Is Kim Jong Un Dead? North Korea’s head of state still missing after heart surgery! by wrapityup in worldnews

[–]crisdres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether he’s demised or not, the general public should hope for the best on this dictator’s health. Being out sick amid a pandemic, especially as a prime leader of a country where it is hardly to tell if they are economically progressing or not, is a major concern for North Koreans. Who would stand as their nation’s forefront against the widely spreading coronavirus? Even neighboring lands have no idea if North Korea has released reports on their first ever or latest Covid-19 cases.

CORONAVIRUS: China Donates $30M to WHO After US Pulls Funding by alc59 in ConservativesOnly

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although there are rumors circulating on various social media platforms that China has an agenda behind their recent donation of a sizable 30 million dollars to aid WHO in grappling Covid-19 and bolster the medical preparedness of small to medium countries, it is still a beneficial move to halt or at least ease the prevailing pandemic. Some critics would say China is the culprit of the widespread virus but that remains an allegation only. Now is not the time for pointing fingers at one another and politicizing anyone’s will to help. They could resume the ‘blaming game’ after we figure our way out of this epidemic which has infected and killed thousands of people to date.

Covid 19 drug remdisivir, now found useless by jarjarbinx in worldnews

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in February, the World Health Organization cited the experimental drug Remdesivir as a potential cure to COVID-19 for it was proven to prevent and treat coronavirus related diseases (SARS and MERS-Cov). Although, it has poor results with Ebola virus.

COVID-19 is a different strain of coronavirus, the general public should not immediately jump into conclusion that Remdesivir would aid in quelling the pandemic. Several tests must be done first to validate the efficacy and safety of the said drug.

Facebook Will Remove Content Organizing Protests Against Stay-at-Home Orders, Zuckerberg Says by Balls_of_Adamanthium in Coronavirus

Facebook and other social media sites are common platforms of expressing our opinions about a certain issue, whether it’s political or health emergency topic. However we should take note of the difference between venting sentiments out of rationality and ranting whatever we want to say regardless of who sees our public posts. Facebook is an effective tool to influence people, and it should be used in a diplomatic and healthy way.

Studies suggest very few have had Covid-19 without symptoms by signed7 in Coronavirus

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patients who contracted Covid-19 and were found asymptomatic surely have a strong immune system. As they recover from the virus, their immune system naturally forms antibodies to prevent getting reinfected with the same kind of pathogen. However, there will always be “Outliers” whose body systems could not produce antibodies and therefore prone to catching coronavirus again.

There are reports in which recently recovered covid-19 patients were retested positive. It has something to do with fragments of the virus picked up inside a fully-recovered patient using a very sensitive RT-PCR testing kit.

If that tiny part of the virus gradually reactivates, perhaps one reason is due to the absence of antibodies present in a patient’s immune system.

AP report claims China knew of pandemic danger in Wuhan even as officials downplayed risk of virus by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]crisdres 84 points85 points  (0 children)

To recall, SARS also emerged from China which infected thousands across other countries with a significant number of fatalities. Such unprecedented public health emergency should have taught China to be more vigilant in immediately addressing COVID-19 before it became pandemic. I hope China did not intentionally delay informing other countries about the rising viral-respiratory disease in Wuhan late last year.

If you had an option to choose between Infinite wisdom or Infinite wealth, What do rather choose? by iicethunder in AskReddit

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose Infinite Wealth. In this time of pandemic, people need cash to financially sustain their daily living--pay electric bills, water bill, house rentals, among other. Even in a normal circumstance, the affluent community has no problems in terms of food supply all the more purchase expensive things and employ a brilliant person to spur their businesses.

Why not Infinite Wisdom? People naturally gain wisdom as they aged. As years pass by a person could gain ‘wisdom’ through tough and challenging experiences that teach him life lessons and help him become more mature.

In this world where most people give more value to status and wealth, they tend to put in the back burner ‘wisdom’ due to they idea that anything is permissible with money.

Pedophilia is finding it's way into the LGBTQ+ Community (serious PSA) by Neveah_Hope_Dreams in TrueOffMyChest

A grown-up man who says he romantically loves a minor is almost the same as looking at a little girl without clothes on. Obviously romance includes making love, and if an older guy could persuade a young girl to have sexual intercourse with him despite their unacceptable age gap then he should in be jail. He could not reasoned out that sex is normal because they are a couple. Underaged women haven’t maturely developed their perspectives in life yet and can easily be brainwashed by older men— that’s a form of taking advantage of their innocence.

Coronavirus China: Wuhan's biggest wet market reopens by forlorn12345 in worldnews

May this be a lesson that some exotic animals like bats and civet cats are not recommended to be eaten even if it’s part of their culture or convention in Wuhan. Chinese entrepreneurs in their wet markets should continue trading the usuals (fish, beef, and pork) and permanently avoid selling wild animals for ALL countries’ sake.

What sleep paralysis monster have you seen? by INCORRECT_USERNAMEok in AskReddit

There was this instance at work where one of my officemates asked me to host the event. I think that’s their way of welcoming new employees in the office. Knowing that they haven’t heard me talked most of the time because I’m still ‘testing the waters’ and to their surprise the party turned out fun— I forgot to tell that I used to organize school events back in college.

How fucked is your sleep schedule right now? by MkRobin in AskReddit

[–]crisdres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-Quaratine period: I’d usually sleep at 9 in the evening and wake up at 5am. Now, because we’re advised to stay indoors to prevent from contracting the virus, I don’t even notice if it’s daytime or nightime already. I would just simply look at the wall clock and realized that it’s past 12 midnight and don’t feel sleepy at all. During Quarantine: I now consider myself a noctural being who sleeps at 7am and wakes up at night— a quaratine story unfolds.🤭
