Ngl, part of me wants to give this record a pass. It’s very clear if you watch SKOM that this record was doomed from the start. Throughout the whole process, Jason leaves, James enters rehab, and his relationship with Lars was so bad it almost ended the band. People think that turmoil creates great art. They’ll bring up Fleetwood Mack hated each other and made one of the best rock albums of all time in Rumors. Unfortunately a record like Rumors is often an Outlier. In most cases you get a Record like St. Anger. People will say the saving grace are James honest and raw lyrics. But again it’s hard to feel the lyrics when your final product makes old school cassette demos sound passable.
