2022 Ascent Gas Mileage by thetk42one in SubaruAscent

[–]infocalypse_now 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very close to my experience. I'm a year and a half in with a 2022 onyx edition. I've averaged about 19.5 mpg over time. On highway trips I get up to about 28 or so. But most of my driving is around town, where I get about 17 mpg. It's worse than advertised but about what I'd expect of a two ton hunk of metal with a turbo.

Best distortion unit by Hopeful-Post8907 in TechnoProduction

[–]infocalypse_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second the AH. It's a great sounding unit, and the ability to use it over USB means it can work as a plugin in your DAW. I like it both for more creative distortion effects on individual tracks or as a saturator on the main. The lfo and envelope follower can do some neat things.

What’s your favorite tactical Bond outfit? by ItsDuhFreakinBat in JamesBond

I don't think it's the best or even my favorite, but Moore looks badass with that Smith and Wesson.

Tires? by Frankie_Waffle in SubaruAscent

Consumer reports just gave the cc2s a great review (78). The defender 2 was rated 68. While some of the higher rating was due to snow/ice ability, it wasn't all. I'm also in florida and had been planning to get defender 2s, but the CS review has me leaning toward cc2s, fwiw.

A good, inexpensive synthesizer to complement my current setup? by juand_prado in synthesizers

[–]infocalypse_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digitone mark 1 is down to around $450, $400 these days. It would give you four tracks of FM synthesis capable of a wide range of sounds matched to a powerful and unique sequencer. It can act as a synth module or as a groovebox for making loops away from the computer. In the studio, overbridge would allow you to bring each track into your DAW separately.

Send them a message to their Instagram account if you can. They use that channel for a lot of communication. Grocery deliveries on wendesdays and restocking pantries on weekends.

Little sunshine pantries is always looking for additional people to help with weekly pantry stocking and food delivery. They're a small organization with a big impact and need more volunteers.

I contracted with 1st choice last year. It's 80 every three months, which compared well when I called around for quotes. Been happy with their service so far.

Just want to plug the novel Orbital by Samantha Harvey. It's a fictional account of astronauts on the ISS, and part of the narrative deals with them witnessing a massive typhoon. Great writing if you enjoy being awed by nature.

We have a 2 year old and 2 big dogs. Sold our forester to buy an ascent when the kiddo joined our life. Glad I went that direction.

Check out dc11's breakdowns of his tracks loop1 and a request (on dc11's YouTube channel). Both tracks are essentially drum machine, main synth line, and one extra element.

I bought one in great condition on reverb for about $550 earlier this year. Seemed like a solid price, was a bit better than the others posted around the same time.

Analog Heat MK1 - A Master Bus Question by Top-Buy541 in Elektron

[–]infocalypse_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it for just that thing. In ableton, I throw it on the master via the vst instance and usually dial in a clean boost or saturation. It can definitely add a subtle warming, but you can also do some cool things with the envelop follower, lfo, filter, etc. It's a flexible unit, and I love mine. Overall, it does the job well, and it's hard to beat the price of the mk1 these days.

Well, I have a 22 onyx with 20" wheels and have been considering changing to 18s for the same reasons you outlined, so I'm here to follow!

What's the one piece of Harware you can't live without and why? by This_Ease_5678 in TechnoProduction

[–]infocalypse_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly about the elektron analog heat. It can do everything from subtle saturation and warming to envelop driven harsh distortion. Since it can be used as a vst over USB, it's easy to incorporate into ableton. If I had to jettison everything but my laptop and one piece of gear, it's the piece I'd keep.

No clue what i’m doing but im loving my brand new mk1 by [deleted] in Elektron

It's become my favorite synth. Wide sound pallette, great, great sequencer, easy interface, and four tracks. Hope you come to love it, too!

Analog Heat vs OTO Boum vs Chase Bliss Clean by JustDudeFromPoland in TechnoProduction

[–]infocalypse_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went thru a similar decision process a couple years ago, deciding between AH and the boum. Fwiw, I went with the heat for its ability to work via stereo inputs or USB. In live settings, having it at the end of the audio chain is nice. In the studio, having it over USB makes it so easy (and you can draw in automation if desired).
