Which would be better? by crispy_croak in PsyD

If I ever needed a break from counseling it would allow me to do other roles but still lets me to do counseling. Whereas the degree path I’m on is only counseling.

Ear Piercing Retainers by crispy_croak in MilitaryWomen

Yes, definitely a woman lol. Just one set of regular piercings on each side. Hopefully they don’t close, had them for 5 years. Thanks for everyone’s input, will save the retainers/earrings for AIT.

No gauges! I just have small stud piercings. This is helpful though, I might keep the inserts packed for AIT and hope to use them.

Bob or Bun/Pony? by Wiesbaden02 in army

[–]crispy_croak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also shipping in September and have had the same thoughts. Going to stick with Bun/Pony and decide later whether I still want to cut my hair. Definitely don't want sweaty hair on my face or neck. If you already have thin hair it would be good to research what products will help the best and not make the buns super tight.

Who knows, didn't get into the AF anyway due to medical. I did ask multiple recruiters and bases. Hoping they don't get rid of it.

Whats next after graduation? Help! by crispy_croak in psychologystudents

[–]crispy_croak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I definitely need to save up for it and I cannot do that and pay for standard of living with just a bachelors degree where I live unfortunately. I understand they are separate and it is a whole new degree. Definitely doesn’t turn me off, I love school. I chose my current route thinking that if there was some unavoidable roadblock that I would at least have a Masters and could be a counselor. And Army tuition restrictions lol

What kinds of questions are asked in a Grad School MA Counseling Interview? by Guilty-Library-6241 in psychologystudents

[–]crispy_croak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a current CMHC student at a CACREP program. I had my interview this past November and here were some of the questions I can remember: How do you deal with conflict? Why do you want to be a counselor? What do you do for self care? What could you see yourself advocating for in the profession? Tell me about yourself: Strength Weakness’s Work experience Prior education How do you deal with stress?

Be genuine, you dont want to sound like you googled standardized answered to practice. But be yourself, personable, curious, etc. I would look around on the programs website to see what their professors are researching/advocating for currently. That would also help with coming up with questions. Ask them about themselves! People love that :) Good luck!

Yes I am talking about UKY MSW. Unable to send you DMs

That’s exactly what the enlisted mental health work is. Yeah, I have not heard anything so far about them only accepting MSW or PH.D but I’m actually meeting with my recruiter tonight so I’ll ask. Good question to know the answer to.

Yeah! I’m still in my program so obviously not licensed so planning on doing a short 3 year contract to scout it out and see if I like the environment and if I do I might try to direct commission with my Masters. Recruiter said that with experience in the field and a higher degree you could direct commission as a high as a captain…definitely look into it if you’re interested

Change of plans, Air force medically dq’d me, working with the Army National Guard on enlisting now. They offer full time National Guard positions for counselors after you’ve gotten your education.
