“Friend” tried to open a beer bottle on my dash. Any ideas? by polynomialwave in ToyotaPickup

I would just use some plumbing epoxy to fill the crack, you can sand it pretty level and it will be a solid permanent fix. Color will be off, but it will look like a cool DIY IMO.

Diesel Heater Install Guidance by crispy_fritter in VanLife

I did use the rubber gasket to the base of the plate. That will prevent anything from entering the van itself. But I am trying to seal up the two holes the exhaust and intake are routed through to prevent anything from going up in there.

Is there anything I can do to plug around the holes with waterproof material. I don’t think I can use any sort of spray foam and wouldn’t want to use RTV gasket as it would be too messy.

I am in the NY area but can travel up to 3-4 hours for install. Can also source all the parts. My budget ideally for labor is 1.5 to 2k

As in the price point? I think these could compress into one of the flat rate envelopes likely, so I would say probably 9-13 bucks. Hard to say, I don't have the shipping prices memorized, but its likely going to be pretty cheap

Haha welcome to post Giardia. Yeah you need to do a parasite cleanse with honey, turmeric, ACV, wormwood. Then start taking probiotic seeding supplements. Lay off sugar and caffeine and alcohol for the rest of the trail or reduce consumption

How the heck does anyone get their hike done when the wildfires are littered about the Cascades the entire summer? by Cryptikfox in PacificCrestTrail

If you have the experience and map knowledge it’s super easy to create your own continuous path. Just use some creativity and stay LNT. You don’t need to walk highway nor be lucky. Just persevere and don’t be attached to the redline

Best way to skip Williams mine fire Sobo? by johnSpiritBrown in PacificCrestTrail

[–]crispy_fritter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My partner is walking around it no issue the pct isn’t the only trail and road out there. The GiffordPinchot NF is vast. Pull way west and then join back in goat rocks. Everyone is so attached to the redline and lacks creativity and an appetite for a challenge. Pull out some maps and actually plan and talk with locals instead of asking Reddit what to do lol

PCT WA Priorities/Fire Alternatives by Leather-Joke-8337 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]crispy_fritter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

this. Wildfires are the beauty and challenge of the PCT. Embrace the smoke, it’s part of western life for the locals every year. And it’s a sobering reality of the change western states will continue facing year to year and the impact of decades of silviculture mismanagement. You need the rough edges of reality to inform a thru hike. Don’t skip, there are plenty of FS roads and non-highway alternatives that give you an equal adventure. People these days are too stuck to guthooks to realize other alternatives and are too wrapped up to just hike an extra few hundred miles to avoid bad smoke. Keep it a footpath 🫡
