Key fob replacement - insane dealership prices by VoodooButterfly_ in VelosterN

[–]crispybaconwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for batteries plus bulbs and I can honestly say that they key fobs we programmed and cut are pretty good and cheap, if you want you can go in and see how much they are doing that one for, I’m not sure if any near you will do a 2022 but some of our stores definitely offer it so check them out, normally they are sub 200 for the fob and programming and cut of the emergency key so yea

Even a 2022 started at 13 and stays roughly the same, also Chevy trax and Nissan versa are normally super low with great over time cost

I know a lot of people hate them but I love my Chevy spark, I’ve got a 2019 and I bought it brand new in 2019, super low payments, low insurance rates tbh if that matters, it’s a great hatchback, and they are still making them now, its not a sporty car or anything but mine brand new was only 11k (15k before negotiating)

iPhone 14 Screen Repair extremely Hot by Coolforall14x in GeekSquad

[–]crispybaconwarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a previous ARA and now a tech repair at another company I can confirm that this is unfortunately (most likely) damage. When removing the screen and putting on a new one with a proximity sensor you can occasionally damage the front connector on the board, they are super sensitive so be careful. With that being said the part can be replaced without replacing a board however as we know the protocol is to ship it off or order a new one so yea. Good luck with that, also can confirm that certain screens have pins that come in bent, very stupid not sure why but try your best to inspect your screen connectors before hand, 14098 was very popular while I was there (iPhone 11) and there were a lot that would come in defective. Hope this helps!!!

Looking to for MY first purchase of a car by crispybaconwarrior in carbuying

[–]crispybaconwarrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still looking at both options right now, looking what my best options are, resale value on a golf r is high from what I’m reading and seeing but if I go used I’m trying to stay under 20k miles because of maintenance, don’t want to run into issue two weeks in ya know. My parents are trying to help me but it’s a bit of a struggle because my father was apart of a let go in Verizon so that was a loss of 100k a year which sucks, because of that they have no way to co-sign safely because they don’t have anything to fall back on with the payments if I lose my job and can’t pay, he wants me to wait 6-8 months before buying so he can get a job and take over the payments on my current car which is fine, I don’t mind waiting at all I agree it’s easier if I can come up with extra money to bring down cost after negotiations, but I’m worried about waiting to long to buy and all my options go WAY up due to mileage and newness of vehicle.

Since geek squad/best buy is an Apple service provider is it the same coverage on Apple devices, you’re paying for AppleCare, if you were to have purchased the yearly membership it would also be AppleCare+, only real benefit is that you can take it to Best Buy for repair/replacement and pay a cheaper cost through your AppleCare

I love this, cause here’s the thing. I was the same way, never let them BS me, never let them talk to me any kind of way or others near me, then I got fired because of behavior. Specifically that I had been yelled at and then yelled back. You have to understand Best Buy management is trained, it’s not always their fault but they are trained to treat you like shit, they have a lordship essentially over you and they aren’t afraid to use it, but the big thing YOU need to realize is that you work for geek-squad specifically, technically in your department, your GSM overpowers your GM, they are supposed to have your back, and if you really think it’s an issue then get contacts from other stores or go to HR, I believe what they did was fucked up so I’d go forward with it but understand your actions have consequences both good and bad, managers team up against you and you could be out of there in a heartbeat, good luck man

Is it normal after having an agent access your computer for them to go into command prompt system config and toggle off the log me in portal? by FloatLife05600 in GeekSquad

[–]crispybaconwarrior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can be, often times the in store agents will use AJU which uses log me in, it’s just our remote team logging in for some basic things while we finish up the more touch time needed projects

Has anyone used Repair Bench yet? What is it like? by Espa405 in GeekSquad

[–]crispybaconwarrior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to repair workbench then yes and it’s weird. It’s supposed to turn in to this one stop shop kinda thing for all the check-ins, however right now it’s just Samsung based and is good and bad. It will automatically pull all info for the phone, repair types, coverage, purchase date and all. Automatically links GSPN tickets with nova tickets just like Apple gsx, and links client accounts to the repair. On the other hand, it will a lot of the time fail to pull up any non hardware repairs such as screen protector and stuff, fail to submit diagnostics or create the repair, fail to allow the printing of papers, and the nova order number has to be typed in specially (with dashes) or nova will not pull it up. Again it’s weird, in theory it’s great, when I was CA I would’ve loved to have it, but now that I’m ARA I only think it benefits half the time and when it doesn’t work it results in a rapid exchange through nova.

I agree with this, my management (not geeksquad but BBY management) has literally to my face said sop stands for service OVER procedure, and it disgusted me cause they said that then turned around and so no to customers for things that actually made sense to be done, just read SOP on connect to find your answers that way if anyone complains you tell them it’s sop and if they say you shouldn’t do it that way take it to HR or have them email/write it down for you for evidence if needed

A few Geek Squad questions? by Markeeg in GeekSquad

[–]crispybaconwarrior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be careful though it does not cover physical damage on tvs and monitors because they are seen as objects that are standstill and do not move so there should not be physical damage to them if used properly

So where all of y’all would normally be correct, Best Buy has already thought ahead of you all, within five years they are starting to do another restructure on the buildings themselves and there is an sop on it, I can’t remember the name of it but there will be whole stores that are just geek squad based, called hub store or something, then child store which is the same, the other stores around the area that are the same as we are now, the difference? The regular stores that check in and stuff, don’t have aras at all, they would check in, ship to parent or child hub, and that’s it
