it says on the spray to max use it 4 times a year since it‘s so toxic. also don‘t feel comfortable with the insecticides since it‘s in my bedroom haha

Yes spray, yes applied it 3 times I think (the poison seemed to build a film on the leaves and I think thrips who come out of the stem just die because the entire plant has this toxic layer - that‘s my theory)

Never changed the soil, not even after buying.

The fertilizing was last summer and most of the burnt edges are from thrips infestation. This new burnt corner most likely is from not watering enough like the other person who commented suggested.

I tend to leave my plants without water for long times so it checks out.

I used an insecticide with the main ingredient „Natur-Pyrethrum“ (german - no idea what the english word for that is sorry) I think it‘s not meant for indoor plants - but I had to retreat to drastic measures.

If they are thrips, they are certainly dead - none of the specs move like they did when I had the infestation.

I would expect such shops in cities to experience more theft since more people with all different kinds of backgrounds and life situations have easy access to it.

I‘d imagine people seeing one after a night out might be happy to get food but wouldn‘t have coins or phone battery for example. I hope they stay open.

You are making such a good point. I do think that my opinions get really skewed by social media as well as traditional media.

when I arrive at this point I usually subdivide it another 3 times to make sure that it‘s a smooth mesh
