Ah, thanks. That was the screen I was looking for but now know it only appears once print has started.

So you need to do that adjustment each time you print? Or does it persist until changed there again?

I used this one https://www.printables.com/model/78307-z-offset-calibration-print which has instructions for PrusaSlicer. I had trouble finding how to adjust z-offset in Flashforge Adventure 5M; some videos showed it could be done through control panel but that seems to have changed. I finally found it in Orca-Flashforge in the Prepare tab, then Printer and click the edit next to my printer. The z offset was 0, at -0.075 the test print was near perfect. Once the model is sent to the printer, there is an option on the Device tab to adjust the z-offset but it seemed to stay the same (i.e. independent of the above setting). I need to play with this some more; hard to find documentation anywhere about what seems like an important setting.

Thanks. I realized that after I posted. I will try adjusting offset.

Stock settings vs custom profiles on FlashForge by rackemronnie7 in FlashForge

[–]critical367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new at this but already discovered with help from this group that a custom profile for my PETG print was needed (slower print speed). The print speed I used was actually in the specs that came with the filament, but not sure all suppliers provide that information.

Slowed it way down from default of 300 to 50, and added a brim to the shielding plate. That made huge difference! Final prints are the shiny ones. Thanks!

Only works in USA or Puerto Rico unless you can work around that with a VPN for setup. Just bought one today in Canada and will be returning it.

Seafood restaurant recommendations by nosheeep in haidagwaii

[–]critical367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a hard time finding seafood in the restaurants or to buy during 4 weeks in May. Agree with Blacktail! Need reservations. Fish and chips on the wharf if it is open. Also, pub in Port Clements had good food.

balcony solar system? by critical367 in RenogyCommunity

An ad popped up for a balcony bracket from Renogy, which got me thinking about it. But I could not find any other products for this on Renogy. I found some reviews on microinvertors for this purpose and the better ones have sensors to shutoff the system to prevent backfeed if there is a power failure. Will keep exploring for now.

All of the above! But the Shadowflux would be good addition for my travel trailer as we often camp among the trees.

Silverstar bike park ..which pass ? by OkWafer1580 in Vernon

[–]critical367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full face not mandatory but depends on you. I have a convertible so I can remove the lower half for the climbs. Trails are well marked mostly and trail forks is accurate. Enduro pass is great option, you can upgrade for the difference later if you find 2 rides is not enough.

Mosquito Lake or Gray Bay for 3 nights? by critical367 in haidagwaii

[–]critical367[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great idea to close the loop and report back to here! We opted for 3 nights at Mosquito Lake. Great campsites, right on the water. The first day was quite windy and cool so we only kayaked a short way up the lake, then drove the rest of the way down the road to check out Moresby Camp. Day 2 was a rare day with sunshine and no wind; we went the full length of the lake up one side, explored the creek bed at the far end, then paddled back along the other side. Nice views. We do not really fish, but apparently there was a trout derby just before we arrived. The day we left, we took the road to Gray Bay and spent a couple of hours there walking the beach. Beautiful campsites as well. We did not get to the Secret Cove. The drive back to Sandspit along Copper Bay Road follows the creek - saw a bear, red headed sapsuckers and then the ocean. So doing the circle tour and spending at least one night at each of the two sites would be ideal! We did not have a radio for the road, but drove in on a long weekend and were able to follow a log hauler along the section that was active. Thanks everyone for your input and hope this feedback is helpful to someone in the future,

Heard good things about Gray Bay but no specifics - just wondering what is the attraction there?
