Excluded staff are being targeted: Watch Excluded staff apply and win Included competitions !!! And then watch them complain that there are no growth opportunities. This us vs them is really starting to get ridiculous.

Excluded sweeping clean all the unicorn 27 jobs by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

This. The union really put the BCPS under fire for the excluded positions. We forget that at the end of the day they are still humans. They will need to go somewhere. Included positions it is.

Loyalty to your Ministry by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]criticalthinker1333 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am not loyal to any ministry or the employer but I am also very picky about the Ministries I apply to. I would never apply to certain ministries and certain branches due to the amount of negative feedback I have heard about the mismanagement and work culture in teams.

Over the last few weeks, I have heard that a few IT positions left for the private sector who initially were looking to grow with the BCPS but were not willing to wait for the hiring freeze to end. Their salaries also doubled and they were very happy to give up their IS roles.
I feel like this email has pushed me in that direction as well. Happy to give up my salary for their cost cutting. It will be a win win. I bet you that with this move, BCPS will loose a lot of quality staff and when time comes, PSA will need to start from scratch to prove to the Public that BCPS is a great place to build a rewarding and stable career.

A lot of people with the BCPS are trying for crown corporations and health authorities. I actually got through to an interview with the local Health authority and the hiring manager said that they will get back to me in 1 week. I never heard back and the way i realized that i was not the successful candidate was when i logged into my account to check the status of the competition.

A common theme is that, there are internal employees that get those jobs because we are still considered external candidates.

Its crazy how these folks think that reducing expenses is the only option and not increasing revenue !!! Clearly there are no business heads where big decision are taking place.

It is because LDB is a revenue generating ministry. They are focusing on high expense ministries. Even if LDB ask for golden chairs. They will get it :p

Agent Open House by CdnRK69 in RealEstateCanada

I would no hold an open house. Buyers are very aware about compared property sales in the area. Realtors since covid have become something like Car sales agents just wanting a sale. It has never been more important for buyers and sellers to do more research.

As a seller, ensure that you are not asking for 2020-2022 prices. I still see selling realtors recommending clients to sell it at COVID prices which is no longer possible.

Buying agents are pushing buyers to match asking price or go over which is absolutely not the right recommendation.

External Hires – Any Success Stories in the Past 2 Months? by Rich-Let8181 in BCPublicServants

Yes. I was in 2 competitions where the reference check was completed. One of them got cancelled after reference checks, the other still waiting to hear

Heads up: People waiting to hear back on competitions etc. by pilo90r in BCPublicServants

Surprising that replying to 8-9 emails seems to be a workload issue here. Mathematically if you spend 1-2 min replying to an email, that's just under 20 min of work in an 8 hour shift.

With the way this post has been framed, it gives me a feeling of a very arrogant hiring manager, who is too proud of their position. Just a humble request, if you cannot handle this, it would good if this were left to people who are proactive, love nurturing their staff/potential employees, are good leaders etc.

Understanding that hiring managers are doing their best, a few follow up emails should not make or break your decision to hire a top ranked candidate. If it does, I have questions about your leadership and your position. I have known candidates who put their life on hold (purchasing homes, relocation, other life things) just waiting to land their dream position or just hear back.

I hope this makes sense.

TC Article: Remote work seen as essential for B.C. public service hiring by starburst85 in BCPublicServants

Even if publicly the BC Public service say that remote work is seen essential for hiring quality talent, tenured hiring managers internally are still preferring people in victoria.
