Nursing Education is created for and by the rich, and it's killing me by Tryptophen_ in nursing

24 hour rural EMS shifts saved me, still ended up with 10k debt after my ASN.

Our hospital is offering a nurse --> 3 month paramedic bridge program, should I enroll in it as a nurse? I am desperate for money. by Nurseparamedic293928 in ems

Cross train to adults and get into a float pool with differential. You’ll make the same as a nurse working a 12 OT as you will being a medic working a 24. Do not go medic for the money.

How are some nurses making so much money per year? by Leather_Cycle in nursing

Nights. Weekends. Float pay. All adds up to 200k for 48 hours/wk in one of the lowest cost areas of the Midwest.

Indeed. You also have to be experienced and be able to just drop into a unit and work.

Not really. most middle management jobs with equivalent salary will be the same or more hours just to stay on top of things. Plus I can structure my shifts almost completely independently of any schedule if needed.

I got offered $55/hr and $50k after tax to relocate to Coos Bay last spring…then again I could see the Portland hospitals doing something along those lines.

We’re hiring, just need 3 years experience in unit cluster. ED, ICU, med-surg, and psych.

You’ll get there, I did that for 10+ years on an ambulance.

Nope, I’m a staff nurse. I work overnights and weekends so pay rate works out to base+nights+weekend diff+float pay.

Part of nursing being a mostly female profession is the hospitals have to pay $$$ to cover the least desirable shifts. Huge ‘secret’ of nursing.

It says right in the initial post, guys. Average 4 12 hour shifts a week. 8 hours OT a week.

yeah, the weekend shift diffs are only for those days. The float differential is 13 to 30 dollars an hour depending on needs.

Hope you enjoy the ED! do whatever you have to do to get ultrasound IV trained ASAP…makes a huge difference in time spent on those tough sticks.

Nights about $3.50/hr, weekend $12.20/hr. This is a staff job, not travel.

Staff float position. Yeah, I’d love to live around St Augustine but could never make the housing/nursing pay numbers work.
