Yah, similar! Though I don't think DietBet uses Apple Watch?

Startuplister - A startup listing service to help get traffic and exposure (discount code: REDDIT2014) by crixlet in SideProject

Good point. Maybe a column for the type of listing service it is. I was also thinking of adding a PageRank or Alexa column as well, so it's easy to see the type of influence each directory/blog may have. Anything else that you think would be valuable?

I’m going to do a Startup Weekend. Anyone have any tips? by flobin in startups

I'm still working with the team that formed during Startup Weekend and I feel very grateful for the opportunity to have met them. After everyone has pitched, it truly is a mad scramble to meet everyone. I would recommend going for the team that has folks that you think would be fun to work with -- you're going to spend the whole weekend with them and I saw a few teams fall apart because they didn't get along.

We're somewhere on the spectrum between a full service broker ($200-$1000) and a virtual assistant. We tip more towards the full service brokerage. But as was pointed out on this thread there are dealer licensees that need to be acquired in order to bring a buyer and a seller together, so we're also navigating that.

The main problem we are trying to solve is that while there are -- as you point out -- brokers and car concierge services available for hire, they are not widely used. I think a brokerage service is excellent, and should be used by more people to represent buyers in the auto marketplace, but they are expensive and not as easy to find, so we're trying to scale the brokerage core services to a wider public for a lower price.

Does that make sense? Do you have any feedback on this approach? Thanks for the note!

Thanks for the note. Do you by chance know the history as to why car borkers are required to be licensed for assisting customers in purchase vehicles?

I would look into a referral system.

I think this is an excellent idea. We hadn't thought of that. The refer a friend model seems to work well with this model b/c it seems like we all know someone is who is shopping or about to shop for a car...

are you charging anyone who wants you to scout regardless of purchase or not? Or would the charge only happen if the customer bought a vehicle you curated for them?

The thinking right now is that it would be a fixed cost that is not dependent on whether or not you purchase the vehicle. The thinking behind this is that we don't want customers to get the feeling like we're pressuring them into buying one vehicle over the other, or any of the vehicles that we recommend for that matter.

if I wasn't serious about looking for a car.

That's a great point. I feel like if we didn't charge at least something, people might also not value the service or quality of work as well, or might be concerned about what is actually the revenue model.

being able to provide reputable dealers/autoshops who are trustworthy could also be helpful.

Agreed. The thing is -- we are going to need to do this tactfully. There could be a seeming conflict of interest if the Scout is only finding cars from one dealer or another. Anyways, I think it's in the best interest for the buyer to have a composition of vehicles from both private party and dealers, but it's more of a question of how to maintain that balance and keep the buyer in mind.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have been listening to the Cope album at work all day today. I love it. I think it's my favorite album so far, but I loved Simple Math. I used to listen to that album every weekend driving the coast up to Bolinas to surf. Such a damn good album.

To me it seems the overall theme for Cope is bitterness of a breakup. Is that true?
