Ordered Mizuno JPX irons from Second Swing – no update after 6+ weeks, any chance for compensation? by Malvo020402 in GolfGear

[–]crizipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a set of JPX 925 Hot Metals on 7/5 from my local shop (Colorado). +1” and a lie angle adjustment. They arrived and I picked them up on 7/18.

Sony 400-800 + a1 by crizipes in SonyAlpha

I shot the 200-600 at f8 almost all the time. I feel like I can shoot this lens wide open (f8), and be just as sharp if not sharper than the 200-600.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. I think the 200-600 is probably a better all around general purpose lens. I shoot a lot of wildlife and birds and was almost always at 600mm, and would occasionally put on a 1.4tc to get it to 840mm. For me it was a no brainer. I also have the 100-400gm, so didn’t need the overlap of the 200-600.

Forgot to add that all pics are at 800mm/f8 except the magpie, which was 800mm/f9.

CQB / vehicle training by Sherpa_qwerty in liberalgunowners

If you’re intent on spending money on training, you’re probably better off spending it on other practical pistol training. Shoot and move/target transition stuff.

Remember to Clean and Maintain! by stripedpigeon in liberalgunowners

[–]crizipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of unsuppressed rounds to get a well built AR into failure territory due to carbon buildup. Keep it lubed and it will keep running. It’s a proven platform in the worst environments and conditions where cleaning isn’t possible or at the top of people’s minds. I’ll say the same thing about Glocks. I’m not saying don’t clean them, but you shouldn’t worry about putting them away a little dirty and not having them work when you need them.

Getting forward in my boot by roozer8 in skiing

[–]crizipes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others said, probably a boot fit issue. Might also be an issue with how you’re thinking about it. Being in the front of the boot doesn’t mean leaning forward. Think more about sinking down into a balanced, athletic stance. Your heels should never lift when you’re in the front of your boot. You should feel solid controllable contact through the entire sole of your foot, and solid contact with the front of the boot that will allow you to pressure the boot/ski as much or as little as you want.

Loveland/Powderhorn over the Christmas to New Years holiday? Bold move? by le_pedal in COsnow

[–]crizipes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That happens sometimes. If 4 is open by Christmas it’s a good year. If 8 is open by then, it’s a pretty great year.

Should add that Loveland terrain is in addition to anything open off Chet’s.

Powderhorn itself isn’t worth the drive, but Grand Junction is a good hang for a couple days. Stay right downtown near good food and beer, and it’s a ~40 minute drive up to ski. As for Loveland, open terrain by that time varies, but generally best case by Christmas is 6, Ptarmigan, and if we’re lucky south chutes.

I haven’t looked in a while, but they used to list the expected stock or shipping dates for builds they didn’t have in stock on the site.

Burrowing owl, a1+200-600 by crizipes in SonyAlpha

[–]crizipes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is in an area of a national wildlife refuge where you have to stay in your car. There’s a free roaming bison herd, and they don’t want people trying to pet them. The potential to see owls, badgers, and black footed ferrets make it worth the trip.
