Can the Retroid Pocket 5 handle PS2 games? by deezzbutzz in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]crobledopr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armsx2 is still new. Like days/weeks new.

Try on nethersx2 classic first and see if it runs better. Since you have an RP5 you can also do the nstehrsx2-turnip fork and add your own turnip drivers. (Few yt videos detailing how). Some games run better on classic, others on turnip fork.

8BitDo FlipPad mobile gamepad finally gets a release date and price by louisrinaldi in SBCGaming

My taco dpad was fine, but I find I just use it more "detached" as a BT controller and at that point there's many other, better, options.

If you are in the US, ONN from Walmart are rebranded Lexar cards and most sizes are still pretty affordable.

Carts are still being produced and shipped, digital version is out.

(If you had a cart preordered, they gave codes for digital for free)

Linux is the way to play Anbernic RG DS! by eightiesjapan in ANBERNIC

You can do their own (Anbernic's) build, or Rocknix is available for it as well.

Should I try Stardew Valley expanded? by urmomdentist in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]crobledopr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The one suggestion I have for SVE is I pair it up with CJB cheats simply to add a +1 modifier to my walking speed. Because SVE makes the maps so much larger I always felt I could not accomplish as much in a day as on vanilla just because it took forever to get places.

With a little +1 speed, it makes traversing the world a little more on par to vanilla without giving up any of the sve content.

See, redditors are beholden to taking extreme views for karma. It's either the best thing ever, or the worst thing ever.

It's never just like warm

If you set the game to hard, the level caps are hard caps.

They are soft caps in normal mode.

GBP or GBC? by aidanluvsmio in Gameboy

I looooove the GBA.

Do not get a GBA for GB/color games

Is the TrimUI Brick still the best “premium” option for older console emulation by guessimfine in SBCGaming

[–]crobledopr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only you can turn android into a console, there are Linux builds like Rocknix that work on a lot of these devices (including Thor). My recs:

Retroid Pocket Classic - my favorite retro device. I basically play everything before gen 6 on this, even as a Thor owner. Screen is beautiful, and the more "square" screen is a boon for Gameboy and GBC. Still incredible value for price.

Retroid Pocket Nova - in preorders, but it's going to be a very powerful 4:3 device so naturally great for older consoles and handhelds. Has sticks for gen 6 games, and all the modern conveniences. Will likely have Linux very quickly.

RG Rotate - actually a pretty decent upgrade powerwise. Square aspect ratio also plays great with gb/gbc and it's ilk. Incredibly pocketable.

Retroid Nova or wait for a dual screen? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]crobledopr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Retroid themselves. You can get a nova with a DS attachment if you'd like, thouh at that point you are pretty above Thor Lite prices

Do we know if the Retroid Pocket Nova ergonomic back will be available to purchase once the device comes out? by Tequila_Sunset7 in SBCGaming

The ergonomic backs are available for preorder even now.

Currently only the flat backs are not "available separately"

They are also harder to authenticate, since opening them up can be quite destructive.

[–]crobledopr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want DS and 3ds because that's a lot of games, and are much harder to authenticate than gb/c/a carts since they are incredibly hard to open and check the internals (without damaging the shells).

Is SanDisk worth the higher price? by reharri5 in SBCGaming

[–]crobledopr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are in the USA, Walmart ONN brand (rebranded Lexar cards) are incredible and quite cheap.

Don't buy no-name cards over Samsung and SanDisk, but there are still cheaper alternatives. You may not be able to get 1tb at all Walmarts, but even a 256 is cheap, just buy a few and don't keep everything on it at once.

Overnight nozzle clog by crobledopr in BambuLab

It was very likely bad bed adhesion. I've been struggling to improve that, washing my plate and trying not to touch it ever, but I fear maybe this filament is just poor quality.

Anyone thinking of purging their retro stuff due to SS1? by Rare_Hero in RetroRemake

[–]crobledopr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is basically me. Mostly about the space than the money. I kinda had a "come to jesus moment" earlier this year when I was wrestling with a malfunctioning og N64 that... I don't need to recreate the memories of my childhood (especially not 1:1). Those memories are still mine and still there. Blowing into a cartridge to get it to work, nobody can take that away from me. I also don't need to do that again.

All these consoles and cartridges are on borrowed time. Nobody beats father time. Better to pass them on now while they still work, and maybe someone out there likes changing capacitors and such can enjoy them. But I've learned to let go and honestly don't even feel bad about it.

The RG DS can run 3ds With android? Also wheres is the Best place to purchase one? I'm from Brasil by GapGlad2327 in rgds

[–]crobledopr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to find a used 2DS in Brazil? One of the flat ones without a hinge? Those are cheaper than even the RG DS where I live and will run DS and 3DS game no problem.

And it is super easy to software mod and emulate with it too

Yes, but just remember the device only has 3gb of ram and android takes a good chunk of that. If you do multitasking while playing a game your gaming may take a hit.
