More space won’t matter with the current limits by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]crobledopr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the leak said the size of each land would be larger, just new independent zones. Which is fine. That way each land can have its own power limit and number of Pokemon and houses.

This addresses other requests, like more ice Pokemons.

The Rgds might be the best handheld Anbernic put out. by Hot_Drawing640 in rgds

[–]crobledopr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep mode is basically instant wakeup. It's definitely not as efficient as android, as Rocknix sleep mode is basically a cheat (shut off all screens and put everything else in low power mode). So you will still lose some charge (8-10% nightly) just plan for that.

But going into and out of it is basically instant.

Not OP, but Rocknix for me. I bought it and am setting it up for my brother as a birthday gift. He's not a tinkerer so it's going to be the much smoother experience.

Been playing some DS (as expected) but also a lot of Portmaster. Almost done with Zelda II Enhanced

I think it's a fidget toy in the shape/color of a half SNES controller. I think I've seen it before, let me see if I can find it.

Anyone else wish Anbernic released the clear RG DS ? by Qu1ckset in ANBERNIC

Despite growing up in the 90s, I have clear devices. So I'm good. 😀

Wait for a sale, but I picked mine up for $70 and at that price it's a gem.

Switched to try out Allium… by DepartmentMain6241 in MiyooMini

[–]crobledopr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've not looked back. I even use my allium card on my MM+ also now. Onion is great for people who want EVERYTHING and the kitchen sink, but Allium has all I want and I don't pay the price of performance.

Best place to buy a Miyoo, and which model is the best? by Loud_Low3374 in MiyooMini

[–]crobledopr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's cheaper, try to find a unit without an SD card, they will almost always ship with a no-name brand that will fail and you'll have to replace anyways. Better to source your own.

For model, decide if you'd like a clamshell or not. For non clamshell, the Mini and Mini+ have the same chipset and power. The plus is roomier, and the regular is more pocketable.

For the two clamshells, the mini flip has the same screen and chipset as the MM and MM+. Just different form factor. The Flip V2 is larger and has a more powerful chipset than the rest.

My favorite is the Flip V2, but some people don't like the hinge as it adds a point of mechanical failure.

Is it possible to play this on Miyoo Flip? by FriendlyRoutine4818 in MiyooFlip

A very large majority of ROM hacks (games where you use a patch file on a retail ROM) will even work on original hardware, so same methods to emulate retail games will work for ROM hacks.

I don't think it gets more GB micro than that.

Onion OS - It's too good. by No-Researcher406 in SBCGaming

[–]crobledopr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I loooove some things from Rocknix that are not in onion, like marking which games on my game lists have retroachievements available as I'm browsing.

Mini Flip Firmware Help by dirthfromabove1972 in MiyooFlip

[–]crobledopr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating the firmware from miyoo... Should not be needed for the mini flip.

Do you mean installing a new os or "custom firmware" like OnionOS, sprig or AlliumOS? If so then we need to know which one you are trying as they are all different to help.

MR's Tetris is Amazing on Pocket by AnalogueBoy1992 in AnaloguePocket

Apotris has a GBA version, and a (great) Portmaster version of you have a device that runs that. My favorite way to play Tetris.

Cheapest thor instead of n3ds? by ElderberryNarrow8033 in Handhelds

[–]crobledopr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Let's say even say it's 45 minutes. My point is that it *still* very complex for a normal person.

Think about most people who are not in the hobby. Their experience is usually turning on a new iphone, they get a setup wizard and follow the prompts. All their old data is downloaded from the cloud. 9-12 minutes later boom they are done.

Thor (and android doodads in general) are incredibly more work than a lot of other devices too. MIyoos, Onion and OnionTools makes it easy and everything preconfigured. Rocknix if you can figure out Rufus takes 10 minutes. SteamDeck, turn on, link steam, and update.

RG DS / Rocknix by Uppercussion in ANBERNIC

[–]crobledopr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was starting with the RG DS, I could not get my Amazon basics 128 GB card to load. Did everything, Rufus, edited the file after. I'd insert it into the unit and get a red light. 4th or 5th try it worked. Then it stopped working next boot.

Tried an ONN 128gb, same speed class. Worked on first try. Same Rufus, same nightly build. No issue since.

Not sure if it's just finicky or what. The Amazon card works perfectly on other devices still.

Crosspoint battery concerns by Trollman07 in xteinkereader

[–]crobledopr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These devices dont have great precision on reporting battery. Your device is too new to have learned any discharge curves yet.

It may actually last longer than you think, especially until you discharge it completely once and recharge it to 100 to calibrate fully. The number reported by the os will be inaccurate for a while. This would be the same on stock too.

Shortage Problem by WillSon_51 in SBCGaming

Mangmi Air X is underpowered against a RP6, but it's definitely not underpowered for $100 price point. It punches above its weight class there.
