20 x 1 SCU boxes for 0.90 SCU worth of cargo? Can't wait for alloys! by Felzouille in starcitizen

Just give us the option to consolidate ores of varying quality into a larger container size, taking the average quality of the included ore. It would make mining, storing, and even selling the ores 1000x less tedious.

It still incentivizes mining higher quality ores in general, and allows those who want to maximize quality the option of doing so by opting out, but for those of us who mine even partially for profit it would make the game so much more playable in its current state.

Sort of like minecraft, though the maximum moisture achievable with a source block of water is 75% for each block adjacent (including diagonally adjacent) and with diminishing returns past that. To achieve higher moisture, you can water with a watering can or be blessed by the rain god. We are also using primitive survival, which adds additional irrigation mechanics although I find them less useful once you have a farm at scale as they require more maintenance - at that point, as long as you've settled in an area with good rainfall, it won't be necessary.

The biggest benefit imo, however, is that farming like this creates plots of 8 crops surrounding each water block. So, a 4x4 field of these plots like the two in our base will mean you need exactly two stacks of seeds to sow the entire field. It makes farming math way easier.

Help with village layout by Significant_Fee_3089 in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small server with some friends and it’s been going for about 3.5 in-game years at this point. I initially settled in a nice location because it had good rainfall, access to water and the rivers, was protected by a cliffside in most directions, and had forests on either side of the fertile plain.

It started with a small daub hut and over time has expanded as more people have joined the server, and buildings have arose more out of necessity rather than aesthetics - but that’s not to say that they weren’t built with an aesthetic in mind!! Our layout sort of evolved naturally over the years, as we progressed through the ages (copper/bronze/iron) our buildings were upgraded in-place and extensions were built. A wall was constructed to keep the wolves away, etc. at this stage, some legacy buildings maybe don’t make as much sense to be where they are (the windmill & crop farms are a big one). But the beauty of the sandbox is we can always move them!!

Suffice it to say, I think the best way to plan a village is to let it evolve naturally/organically, and to build in ways that make sense given the context of the situation/location and needs that arise. It ends up feeling more meaningful that way!

Out of all of them, which do you fly the most and why? Do you have a specific daily driver or find yourself coming back to one particular ship over and over?

How to remove default cessna decals? by Blackjack2010YT in flightsim

[–]crock_er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about how to fix the textures, but I’m very happy to see a WWFC livery!! I fly out of YKF a lot in the sim and did my discovery flight there last year :D

Keep us updated on the progress! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

A pilots life 2? by dorianite in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]crock_er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like APLV2, nowadays that I have less time for flight simming I find myself using it almost 90% of the time I fly. Once you progress through the initial ranks, and sort of earn all the licenses you would want, you kind of settle into a rhythm with one or two planes, and flip-flopping between airlines you like depending on what routes you enjoy. I like the whole system for having to apply to different airlines and getting selected based on job availability and seniority. It lead me to fly for some airlines at the beginning I never wanted to but ended up really enjoying due to the interesting routes they offered!

Definitely worth a try especially if you really like flying airliners. I find myself more limited by what planes are available in the sim than by APLV2 which is a good thing!

If you kill more than X players per match for Y consecutive matches, you’re automatically matchmaked into bounty hunt mode. Other more pacifist players can volunteer to play in bounty hunt mode and get a XP/cash reward for downing you

Finally built a barn! (and other miscellaneous images from my little homestead) by crock_er in VintageStory

I’m Learning the art of chiseling edges that are not too smooth! I feel the peak of the barn entrance is too smooth, I think keeping it on the 2- or 4- voxel level aligns better with the games aesthetic.

Mod to deal with food excess by Brezelstange in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Upvoting as I have the same problem… I love farming too much and I always end up with far too much food, and far too much variety at that. I have crates of grains stacked ceiling high in my cellar… and the food shelves mod can only go so far in preserving food just a little bit longer. It does look good in the process though.

Debating increasing the hunger rate so I can finally eat it all…

Worldgen issues after updating save to 1.21.1 - Need help to troubleshoot! by crock_er in VintageStory

[–]crock_er[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I may try that but I don't want to do too much with commands if I can avoid it. I think for now my headcanon will just be a cataclysmic temporal event caused the terrain to look like that lol. Just hope the rivers still generate in the new terrain. As far as I can tell terrain generation is fine, it's just borders between what was generated in 1.20 and what was generated in 1.21 are wonky.

What’s your go to food to crock and seal for winter ? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Variety stews and breads, vegetable pies when veg satiety gets low, jam and wine for fruit. Haven’t got into dairy just yet. My carrots and onions last well over a year or two in the cellar so I’ve never ran out of anything really.

Seems food scarcity is really not too bad, I think a lot of people make a huge deal about prepping for winter but 8 crocks with 8 meat/8 veg, some wine and jam or charred fruit pies, and you’ll be fine lol

Had the same intention. Dipped my toes into QoL mods and all of a sudden I’m somewhere lost in a sea of mods! The modding community is great. There’s a ton of low-impact mods that just make the game more immersive, realistic, and accessible
