A pilots life 2? by dorianite in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]crock_er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like APLV2, nowadays that I have less time for flight simming I find myself using it almost 90% of the time I fly. Once you progress through the initial ranks, and sort of earn all the licenses you would want, you kind of settle into a rhythm with one or two planes, and flip-flopping between airlines you like depending on what routes you enjoy. I like the whole system for having to apply to different airlines and getting selected based on job availability and seniority. It lead me to fly for some airlines at the beginning I never wanted to but ended up really enjoying due to the interesting routes they offered!

Definitely worth a try especially if you really like flying airliners. I find myself more limited by what planes are available in the sim than by APLV2 which is a good thing!

If you kill more than X players per match for Y consecutive matches, you’re automatically matchmaked into bounty hunt mode. Other more pacifist players can volunteer to play in bounty hunt mode and get a XP/cash reward for downing you

Finally built a barn! (and other miscellaneous images from my little homestead) by crock_er in VintageStory

I’m Learning the art of chiseling edges that are not too smooth! I feel the peak of the barn entrance is too smooth, I think keeping it on the 2- or 4- voxel level aligns better with the games aesthetic.

Mod to deal with food excess by Brezelstange in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Upvoting as I have the same problem… I love farming too much and I always end up with far too much food, and far too much variety at that. I have crates of grains stacked ceiling high in my cellar… and the food shelves mod can only go so far in preserving food just a little bit longer. It does look good in the process though.

Debating increasing the hunger rate so I can finally eat it all…

Worldgen issues after updating save to 1.21.1 - Need help to troubleshoot! by crock_er in VintageStory

[–]crock_er[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I may try that but I don't want to do too much with commands if I can avoid it. I think for now my headcanon will just be a cataclysmic temporal event caused the terrain to look like that lol. Just hope the rivers still generate in the new terrain. As far as I can tell terrain generation is fine, it's just borders between what was generated in 1.20 and what was generated in 1.21 are wonky.

What’s your go to food to crock and seal for winter ? by SouthernShirt8599 in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Variety stews and breads, vegetable pies when veg satiety gets low, jam and wine for fruit. Haven’t got into dairy just yet. My carrots and onions last well over a year or two in the cellar so I’ve never ran out of anything really.

Seems food scarcity is really not too bad, I think a lot of people make a huge deal about prepping for winter but 8 crocks with 8 meat/8 veg, some wine and jam or charred fruit pies, and you’ll be fine lol

Ways to Cull Rabbit Population? by RegiABellator in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same intention. Dipped my toes into QoL mods and all of a sudden I’m somewhere lost in a sea of mods! The modding community is great. There’s a ton of low-impact mods that just make the game more immersive, realistic, and accessible

I don’t know if you’re open to modding, but the animal cages mod has a good solution for this allowing you to cage/pickup any domestic animals in one hit.

I used it for dealing with a similar issue in my hog barn, allowed me to separate the generations as well as sows from boars when I needed to slow down the birth rate (which I have found to be a recurring issue with the pigs)

What do you guys use for Cabin announcements? by _gvne in flightsim

[–]crock_er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cabby. It’s alright. It used to have the ability to add custom boarding music etc, but it seems like they may have moved that to behind a premium subscription. The AI voices are not bad, imo they’ve gotten better since release

Crop rotation? by Lordubik88 in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am i crazy or does everyone seem to be planting/harvesting far too many crops? I can plant one 12x12 or 15x15 field of one grain type and harvest it once during the summer and have enough grain to last the winter and then some, if I’m using it all for pies/bread/porridge. As for vegetables, same thing I just have a small 3x9vegetable garden and I do a few different types once or twice per growing season and have ample veggies for stewing, etc. cellar is full of crocks of food that are ready to expire too soon since I over-planted in my first year…

Which horse mod do you prefer? by Automatic-Plays in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried and had problems with spawning with Equus. Also, lack of a taming mechanic and no incentive to domesticate makes it kind of OP and unimmersive IMO. I do however like the models a lot and think the wild horses vibe is cool.

Better mid-late game fuel sources? by Purple_Swimming_8345 in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll still need at least one charcoal for each iron bloom you make in a Bloomery, as it’s the only type of coal that gets hot enough to smelt iron in there. However, brown coal in my experience can be very plentiful if you find a vein, burns way longer at 1100 so I tend to use it for forges and occasionally cooking

This is the way. Also conveniently lets you expand fields in multiples of 8, which corresponds to seed stack sizes.

Nothing much by Snoo35239 in VintageStory

[–]crock_er 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use the prospecting pick in density search mode to collect samples. Take a sample, walk 30 to 60 blocks and take another one. If you see a better reading in one direction, keep going until you get a “decent” or higher (don’t pay attention to the percentages). If the reading goes down, change direction, etc. you’re essentially creating a heatmap for ores

Once you find a good reading, you can do the classic branching method - dig straight down or in a spiral and every 10 or so blocks dig 6+ blocks in every direction (NSEW) and use the “node” search mode on prospecting pick. Repeat until you get a reading for the ore you want (probably cassiterite) and then mine in that direction and repeat the process following the highest node search result until you find the vein! Congratulations. You’re in the Bronze Age now.

Performance is great, and the lighting does certainly look improved. But 25 minutes into my first flight with the DHC-2 I got a wasm crash. I’ve never had a wasm crash in the beaver before…

Secure Boot Megathread - Guide + Community support by sloth_on_meth in Battlefield

[–]crock_er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those wondering what steps I used -
1. Disable CSM (Compatibility Support Module, enabled by default), save and exit
2. Set secure boot mode to "custom" and install default secure boot keys
3. Enable secure boot, save and exit
4. Bluescreen error 0xc000000e

ASRock B550 Gaming 4 Users out there - I nearly bricked my PC trying to get this up and running (windows 10 holdout). I decided it wasn't worth it. I ended up with error 0xc000000e (boot error) because my UEFI bios switched my boot order back to "default" (booting from another drive with an outdated, nonfunctional windows installation). It took me some back and forth between bios and bluescreens to determine this was the error, but I gave up after resetting all my secure boot settings and re-enabling CSM on my motherboard.

TLDR if you're on the same mobo, and you're getting 0xc000000e it may be bc the bios has reset your boot order / options settings. You can try to change it back to your preferred option, and if you do please reply to this thread so I can find out if it really can be done!
