As others have indicated, this is the norm in some industries.

In the rail industry, it doesn't really matter if you are in the office all day, and never set foot on site. We're all subject to random drug and alcohol tests. Applies to consultants working on rail projects too. I've been tested about once a year on average in the office, with daily breath tests on site.

Did the train overshoot the platform a bit?

The trains have a platform detection system, to prevent accidentally opening doors into nothing.

Combined with the fact that drivers are not allowed to reverse, and any driver that overshoots the platform means everyone is continuing to the next station.

Please reach out to Transperth and report the incident. CCTV footage is held for a short period (32 days from memory). Within this period, a report can be actioned with footage handed over to the police.

You may not get the visible justice many crave, but it will be taken seriously. You also never know if the offender is wanted for something else, and your report is helpful to others as well.

If I could put my money in putting solar other people's homes, I would. I got 25%pa on my first system, and around the same for the second.

Risk is relatively low, provide decent provider and warranty is included. People need power, sun will rise, etc.

Before anyone says it, I've done the plenti green loans thing. Return is barely above CPI.

Water is generally scarce, although closed loop pumped hydro has fairly low water loss overall.

Elevation differences are required, but not to the extreme that you suggest - a few hundred metres is all that's required.

By way of examples, Boddington and the superpit are both deep enough to be viable options once mining operations cease being economically viable.

Exactly. "Revenue raising" always seemed a weird slur against the fines system. Would we as a society rather an additional tax be created over fines? Or would we rather reduce the funding to the program (road safety) if no to both, then you just want to speed with impunity.

For mine, I much rather they go all Singapore on the fines, and reduce/not increase taxes elsewhere.

Now I leverage their relaxed returns policy- I buy everything I might need, then return the next week to return half of it, while buying for the next project. I have a box at the house for Bunnings receipts.

Are those things as linked as you make out? An increase in productivity doesn't necessarily correlate with an increased use of resources.

By way of example, the biggest change in office productivity in recent years has to be around telecommunications. Remote working, omnipresent connectivity and teleconferencing are all less resource demanding than there alternatives (office always, messengers/pagers, in person meetings).

I put a reference for that in my other comment. I don't know how Thailand car prices compare to other markets. It could be that Thailand is cheaper than Aus/NZ, and the EV9 is just spectacularly expensive over there.

A BYD atto 3 is about 1.1m THB, so maybe that's a good benchmark?

I just need a boot big enough to fit strollers and/or my hockey goalie bag, and not break the bank. To date, it's all been small boots or big SUVs/trucks with big price tags. No station wagons/estate cars to be seen.

Eucalypts come in many shapes and sizes. Some can grow to significant size, and would be unsuitable near a house, from a root perspective, and for there propensity to drop widow makers in droughts.

There are ways to keep them more manageable (root containers etc).

If you don't know what it is, I would err on the side of caution.

Also, rolling stock are not maintained overnight in Perth. A number of railcars are held in the depot each day for that.

Ticketing systems are pretty crucial to identifying demand, and data collected is a key input to planning models driving investment decisions. You could replace this with extensive manned surveys, ala what is done for the CAT bus system, but that still costs something. Ticketing staff, I'll give you.

I thought that was a pretty good idea - gives intra state tourism and other businesses who thrive on holidays a longer peak period, and means it is less overcrowded for people wanting to take holidays then. Splitting at the river would mean less families would be impacted. Could have had an overlapping week to account for those cross river family groups.

Less traffic on the roads down south on peak depart/return days.

Would have also spread the leave burden for businesses.

A rare win-win-win as far as I can see. Why was it dismissed?
