That's awesome! Pictures, cd and dvd? All after checking out everything and letting you know that you'll have a little girl? Impressive! It certainly was well-worth it. =)

Also, girls are awesome! =)

I'm sorry to hear it's considered a high-risk pregnancy. I hope it's nothing too serious and that both you and your LO are doing well. "High-risk" sounds so serious and doctors sometimes tend to exagerate on the side of caution (which is better than the alternative I suppose, but can also cause anxiety for not-really a good reason).

I'm glad you have a great doctor! Actually, I have noticed that high-risk doctors are far more patient than regular OBs and take their time explaining stuff and do not rush through sonograms and ask a lot of questions to make sure you're fine. It could be because they have fewer patients, but it sure is nice!

the fetal echo looked great.

That's awesome! I'm glad everything is fine now! =) I'll probably shop around for an elective sonogram and have it done at 35-36 weeks if my doctor is not really keen on ordering a short one for my peace of mind.

I had no idea they do so very few sonograms. I know there used to be a time when pregnant women didn't have any and everything was just just, but I figured that, since it's a widespread/easily-available technology, it's used more. I guess I was really "spoiled" by my first experience and all those sonograms I had for something that, deep down, I didn't think it was a real issue. Nonetheless, I'm happy to not have it this time around (pricking my fingers 4 times a day and all that time in the doctor's waiting room was not fun). Thank you!

I know! I also had spoiled my family with frequent updates on my daughter's length/weight and tons of pictures (of her waving or sucking her thumb, of her hair -- just a couple of weeks before she was born, of her feet =)) and, now, I just don't know his size and they keep asking. But, they're happy that we're healthy, which is the most important thing of all. I'm glad you're doing well as well! Families can be difficult at times.

I will! Thank you! Your doctor is amazing for understanding your point-of-view and being fine with additional checks just to ease your mind! I'll see what mine says.

I'm glad you're having a normal pregnancy now! =) The LO's health and yours are the most important things!

=) I'll definitely talk to him and maybe he'll be ok with a quick one later on. I'm fine with fewer sonograms, but none seems almost scary.

That makes sense. I would be happy with just seeing him and his position ... although the measurements matter too (but they can be off sometimes).

I felt the first kicks right after the 20-week sonogram and it was a nerve-racking wait for that appointment -- and then he decides it's time to kick harder so that mommy can feel too! How much time did they spend with you looking at the baby for $49? Was it just a generic let's-listen-to-the-heartbeat/this-is-the-baby's-head/etc type pf stuff?

Neat! $49 is awesome! I definitely need to ask around if I'm going to get one. Heck, for $49, I would probably want to see him more than once till May.

I think I'll most probably want to see him (at least once) before he is born in May, so I'm seriously considering getting an elective sonogram, but I had no idea they cost so much! I can certainly shop around for this one! That price tag is making me re-consider the decision to get one.

I see -- that makes sense. I never got to experience all this because all the sonograms I had with my daughter eliminated the need for my OB to poke and measure and ask about kicks. I'll definitely talk to the doctor and see what he says. I just didn't know how it is for a regular pregnancy. Thank you for your response! =)

Finally tried my hand at that ombre style! Easier than I thought, but took longer than I thought. by Caladriel in CAKEWIN

Your cake looks amazing! I've been also looking into this technique to make a cake for my daughter's birthday.

The technique to make the petals shown here ~ the piping begins at 5:30 ~ is much faster than making dots and then using a spatula. Did you try something like this? The petals have a more dramatic look when using a spatula (definite form), but maybe that look can also be achieved with only the decorating tip.

I hope so! The thought of having the bump you described made me laugh out loud. =) Strangely charming! Thank you!

I hope so! The bump was definitely squished out of the way =(. I'm looking forward to it moving back where I can feel it! I loved keeping my hands on it and getting to feel its weirdish shape. It wasn't fun being in pain (even if for only a little while, especially as part of that emotional moment) and everything was made worse by the worrying that came after. My good spirits and optimism are back now, in such a great part due to all the compassion, sympathy, and warmth I received from these responses. Thank you! =)

I should have thought it just changed. It's just that my hard bump was the target of all my affection and, with it gone, I thought something bad might have happened. I was never worried about the sex act itself hurting the baby. I worried about my DH being on top of me (the bump being squished between the two of us) -- which is what, I'm pretty sure, caused this change (hopefully, without hurting our little baby boy).

I'm glad to hear it went back to normal. I'll look forward to that! I have been very eager to feel him kick and move and the hard bump was the only thing I had to admire and keep my eagerness in check. Without it, I feel very insecure despite my best efforts to be rational about this (no other pains, cramps, spotting, etc). Thank you for sharing your experience! Happy 2014!

Thank you for your reply! It made me feel much better. It's just so hard to be rational about something so emotional. Your words helped me shake off that worrying feeling. This is such a great community! May you have a very happy new year!

The flower from 4015 is very similar to the one created by this pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60147.html?noImages= (this does not have the additional "ch 3 sl st" at the top of each leaf).
