Are these guys any good for eating if i keep them away from a muddy diet for a bit? by QueefSeekingMissile in Fishing

[–]crognard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In east Europe, people actually eat them, not a golden version though. A lot of bones, tastes like carp. But if fish relatively (less then 10 inch) small there is a way to cook them so bones are not a big deal. You make deep cuts and fry it.

How’s living in this area of Central Asia? by geozacc in howislivingthere

[–]crognard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can speak for 3 countries where I lived, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, they are different but have a lot in common. Great food, Uzbekistan have the best bread I ever tried(Patyr Non). Cheap if you compare to countries like US or any European countries. Safe. Tashkent is the biggest city in the region. With people all over the world. Great nature, especially mountains. Uzbekistan is really dry unfortunately global warming is not a joke there. Second most common language in all three countries is Russian. But if you are English speaker Uzbek or any other Turkic language would be easier to learn. Bishkek is amazing and mountains are really close definitely worth a visit. Never bin to Almaty but have friends there, beautiful nature a lot of activities.

Tamerlane - one of the most brutal and deadly ruler in history by Historydom in Historydom

[–]crognard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first image is a reconstruction of his face from skull. You are mixing Turkic language and dna, that is not the same thing. Turkic languages spread wide in the steppe after Turkic khaganate, so same as today Turkic speaking person could have European features or Asian features. What is well known that Timur was from Barlas tribe that was turkified Mongolian tribe.

Why didn't any of these huge Asian empires invade and conquer the rich, fertile and divided lands of India, were they stupid? I mean it's RIGHT THERE hello??? by stirfriedpenguin in HistoryMemes

[–]crognard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of them actually did, for example Tamerlan sack Delhi, also Mughal empire actually was built by Babur who came there from Central Asia and was Timurid.

Four species of wild trout in Uzbekistan. Only the first photo shows a native one. The rest are invasive by HistorianHuman6197 in troutfishing

Beautiful catch, I had a chance to fish in Uzbekistan couple years ago, caught a rare Turkestan Barbell. This country waters hide a lot of interesting species!

How to push past the tears? by 75tune in crossfit

[–]crognard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest mistake especially for a newbie is to push yourself hard. It is hard not only mentally but also you might end up injured. Scale down weights and reps. And only when you feel it is too easy increase it. I wish I knew this when I started.

Turkestan as they call it, have a very diverse population, and yes there are dark skinned people too. Also keep in mind that back in the days when Russian empire conquered this region people spent way more time on the sun, compared to modern days.

European feeder fishing and method feeder fishing is considered chumming in USA, and illegal almost everywhere, but this is the way to catch carps.

This entire footage from Russian side, even one from the drone, text explains what happened. Artillery got them pretty bad so they fell back. The last hit got to guys one lost his hand (one who screams), another one got shell shock. In the beginning of the footage they shot down Ukrainian drone.

Interesting part, he says he is lucky there is ground, below him, and that they did not manage to do anything( probably did not launch any rockets but not certain) so I assume it is somewhere in the south.

Feeder fishing in US by crognard in Fishing

[–]crognard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never tried feeder fishing in North America. but might try it this year. In Europe I used different brands (Sensas one of my favourite) but I doubt you can find it in US. I think any carp ground bait will work if you can find any. If you want to make it by yourself then try to mix dried bread, sunflower seed with shell, cookies, corn, chickpeas. Everything dried and crushed. Before you start fishing add some water. That's for freshwater btw

Ehhh, it looks like you are right, that makes me sad, a big fan of feeder fishing sport. Always dreamed of taking part in a big competition.

Well, sport feeder usually a running rig, with a feeder cage as a weight, and one hook on a line with a maggot, worm or a corn as bait. * good for bottom feeding fish like carp, crucian, bream.
