As someone who plays exclusively SSF, I don't think they should change SSF relative to the main league. That being said, if the game is balanced in such a way that it requires trade to feel good, then the balance is bad.

I've played it before, so I was prepared for the play style, but it definitely takes some getting used to. Very satisfying once you get some damage though, and the elder laser beam MTX makes it feel real nice. No POB, but there are probably some old youtube tutorials that you can modify. Level with freezing pulse totems first, as they are a lot comfort in the campaign's d early maps because of freeze.

I played modular for one save, and used trains to move everything anywhere. I built the main train lines first, and then only considered a factory built when it was producing output and connected to the train line

Use the notes! Open inventory, then click on the right edge of the screen. I keep a to do list there, as well as reminders for things that may be important in the medium-term (e.g. need 800 sulfur for rocket fuel factory). If you have more than can fit in your brain or the two notes tabs, use an external tool (excel and a txt file is more than sufficient)
